I’ve just added tufting and novelty rug production to my little workshop so I have been assembling all the requisite tools and supplies as I teach myself the process. I had a corded one and wanted to try this one with battery power. While a bit heavy, it’s a small compromise for not being tethered to a power outlet or having to lug around an extension cord as I work. This machine has made a good first impression so far. It would have been nice to have a storage case but instead, there is a padded box that you can use for storage when not in use. It feels well balanced in your hand and is easy to maneuver. It has a nice grip and won’t fatigue you after lots of use. There was a learning curve getting everything threaded and set up but it seems fairly easy to use. It had adequate power and was able to put material into the backing precisely. It will take a little while to get my technique refined to bring out the true potential of this thing. The battery power is sufficient to get through a moderate sized job all at once. It wasn’t very loud and I didn’t feel compelled to use ear protection. Clean it after each use and keep it lubricated and it should last a while. I am just a hobbyist so in a production environment, using this all day every day, I don’t know how long it will last or how long you will last, so you may want to upgrade if that’s the level of work you are doing. Ive never tufted rugs before so it did take me weeks to seriously understand the pieces and how to operate this well. The wireless aspect is awesome because it allows so much more freedom in movement, allowing a more precise design. No wires pulling on the tufting gun is awesome. The battery packs last a couple hours as stated which works well for me. The assortment of yarn is impressive, they are super soft and beautifully colored. Overall, nice quality and sturdy. This tufting gun is a really solid choice simply because of its cordless feature. My other tufting rugs have wires and I find it awkward and restricting when using those guns because of the wire getting in the way of the angle I tuft. With this cordless gun, It is super easy to follow lines or curves! It doesn't feel too heavy and has a good needle for accurate tufting. This is my first tufting gun and I'm learning to use. The gun does what it says but it's taking me some time to get used to it. The adjustable speed makes it easier to do so. Happy that no assembly was required and I could start using right off the bat.
