The emergency alert function is the main reason for purchase as well as the pay as you go plan. The price is much better than I thought a Sat phone would be. The phone itself works great! Easy Connect and calls are as clear as a regular cell phone. Never had a call disconnect on me like on other models. Great to have anywhere you travel in the world. It's like using your regular cell phone at home. This "satellite" phone did not work anywhere I tried it. The two times it actually did make a connection, the people on the other end of the line could not understand a word I said. As yet I have found nothing I don't like about my phone. I purchased it primarily for emergency use as I live in a hurricane and flood prone area and don't like being without communications during those times.
