OEM speakers had died years ago, too nice to just toss away, too expensive to replace the speakers, I thought. So I bought a pair of foam surrounds to repair the woofers and some tacky glue. No good. Apparently one of the voice coils was toast, so I looked and looked, and measured, and measured again, looked at multiple manufacturers, dug around on their sites looking for specs. You know. Actual width of speaker? These are 6-5/8” as best as I can measure (about 170mm) and the screw holes were at 163mm on the speaker box, with a little less space on the SKAR speakers so that I had to get each screw started at an angle from inside to OUTSIDE of about 45 degrees to get the screws started in the original holes. But they fit. But did they work? Oh yeah. Running an older ADCOM 565 preamp into an ADCOM GFA-535 II (100 WPC) amp, I hooked these up and ran them up to about half power. Yeah, they work. Very good sound quality, hard to compare with originals as I hadn’t used them in about ten years - or much longer - but I was impressed, so much so I’m looking at their crossover, a couple of 2” bass ports, titanium tweekers and a set of crossovers for next month. I’ve had these speakers since 1986, and I think my grandchildren will be able to use them long after I’m gone; they’ll inherit a nice audio system too if they’re into “old school” by then. ... show more

    • Wasn't expecting much...
I have a 08 psssat wagon and all my speakers were blown and to replace them you gotta whole lot of work. My car has a stock 600w amp that runs the speakers so I needed something that could handle higher that head unit power so I chose these cause they were cheap. So I bought these mainly to use and a dummy speaker so I could mock up brackets to attach them to my doors then buy something more expensive and hopefully nicer. Well I installed them into my rear doors... WOW! For the amount I've payed for these they were 4x better than I would have ever imagined. I've used plenty of speakers of this price range and they made noise basically so I wasn't bored, but these have pretty deep mid bass to them and can actually go pretty low. I can't say I'm disappointed at with these at all, especially for the price. You can't beat these if you are looking for a cheap speaker to replace some in your car. They definitely work better when more power is applied to them using a amp, but are great none the less. ... show more

I bought a set of these as replacement speakers for an old JBL floor speaker set with rotted outer foam along with the Skar Audio FSX8-8 8" versions and they sound great for my current receiver. I really need more wattage to even push these things to anything close to their rated wattage, so I'll update my review after I get a new receiver. Otherwise, they sound just as good as the original JBL speakers or better at a fraction of the cost of the original speakers from 20 years ago. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Definitely need a Amp on them for them to sound alright, they aren’t audiohead quality but there better then stock blown speakers, also u need female connector
