The core idea is simple and useful. Strap on spiked aerators, walk the lawn, punch holes in the soil. I tested these in moist backyard soil, which is the exact condition where this type of tool works best. PACKAGING/CONTENTS: * This is a 2-set bundle, which is a nice value add if two people are tackling the yard or if you want a backup pair. * In the box I received the sandal bases, spikes and hardware, extra straps, a pair of thin gloves, and two small cleaning tools for clearing debris from around the spikes. ASSEMBLY: * These arrive flat packed, so assembly is required. * You have to bolt in the spikes and thread the straps yourself. * There were no instructions in my package, and that turned a simple setup into a 20-minute puzzle. EASE OF USE: * Once assembled, these absolutely penetrate soft, damp soil. * The spikes are sharp and aggressive, and they went into my lawn without much effort. * The problem is the strap system. It takes some trial and error to route everything correctly for your shoe size, and this set is not very forgiving if you get it wrong. QUALITY/FIT/FINISH: * The plastic platforms themselves are fine, and the metal spikes feel substantial. * The weak point is the strap setup. The webbing and overall hold do not inspire much confidence once you start walking. * Competing designs often use three straps, and that extra retention matters on a product like this. SAFETY: * These are serious tools, not novelty lawn gear. * During use, one of my shoes slipped out after the straps loosened, and I tripped and nearly stepped on my other foot. * That was the moment this review lost two stars. A loose fit plus long metal spikes is a bad combination. * Keep these far away from children and pets. VALUE: * At $24.99 for two sets, the pricing is fair on paper. CONS/CAVEATS: * No instructions included in my package * Strap system is the limiting factor * Fit depends heavily on how well you route and tighten the straps, which get loose easily with use * A slipping shoe turns this from a lawn tool into a hazard very quickly OVERALL: SKIP.
