I use several grabbers daily. Have them all over my apartment. I am handicapped. Arthritis in my hands, shoulders, etc. I thought the grabbers I've had for years were the best. They have lasted a long time, and are still working well. Then I bought a couple others. They didn't hold much weight and one of them broke. The one that didn't break is still useful for lighter items. Note: (You can either buy a set of two long ones in one order, or I bought the set with one long and one much shorter. The shorter one is nice for items to pick up right around my lift chair). So glad I bought these! The shaft is steel. So strong, and can lift quite a bit. The handle is totally encased in a very strong plastic. Top of the handle has rubber for a good grip, smooth underneath, the whole handle feels good in your hand. The mechanism works in the hand very smoothly and is comfortable to use. The actual bottom part that grabs the item swivels. You pull it out, (very easily, I might add), and twist left or right, however you you want it placed to pick up an item. The bottom grabber mechanism is made of really strong plastic, (will hold up), and has rivets, a very good design. Inside the grabber is really durable rubber, real rubber, it grips really well. Easy to clean out too. I would give these grabbers a ten, if I could! I have looked at so many on Amazon, and found these are the best.... .....I did not get this as a promotion from the company, nor am I being paid. I am also not asked by the company or Amazon to rate this device and give it a high rating. I am a person who struggles everyday and needs a dependable device to help me get through it. Buy this..... I know you've read some false advertisements and reviews on Amazon. This review I am writing is not one of them..... I would buy this product again if I need to....ever. Many thanks to whom designed this very useful and dependable device....

Useful even where a longer one would not be

These are quite handy for reaching something where the use of a longer gizmo would be a bit unwieldy. I think the handles rotate to make it even more easy to use. Also good for reaching something if for instance you drop something while sitting on a sofa. It is not a product I have needed too often, but when I do need it, I am very happy to have it.

Shorter length is more useful for most normal household needs. Comfortable lever, tactile jaws.

I got these to help with hip replacement surgery. We already had a couple of the 3ft grabbers, but unless I'm reaching for something on a top shelf, I found these shorter ones are actually easier to maneuver. The grippers are nice and tactile for picking up even small items, yet they open wide enough to manage most normal household items. The lever is very comfortable and easy to manipulate and I imagine would be comfortable if someone has any issues with hand strength. I didn't really find the need to rotate the jaws, but it's nice that's possible and very easily done by just pulling the jaw out and twisting it to the other position. I've only used these for household purposes and haven't needed to grab anything of substantial weight so I can't speak to durability under those conditions. For reaching for clothing, picking up/putting down pet food bowls, or retrieving small items that I've dropped - - - these are fantastic. 2 of these for this price is also great. I have one downstairs in our kitchen/family room area and I can leave the other one upstairs in our bedroom/bath area. A great help with my current condition, but I also imagine these will continue to be helpful down the road as well.

Good item.

I used both of these after surgery. So glad I had them. I could wash my clothes on my own and pick up things that dropped. I used it to reach certain things in the cupboard. I wish the grabbing part isn't so soft as it's made with silicone and the grip ins't that strong. But I do recommend if you can't find anything better.

Lasts for many years, super sturdy!

These "grabby" sticks are very good quality. They can handle picking up heavier things, don't lose grip easily, and won't bend in the middle. If you're going to spend money on these kind of tools, this is a great brand to go with. I got my first one about 10 years ago, and it just barely bit the dust.

Great product for anyone, especially the disabled or elderly

I first bought these for my 90-year-old brother who was thrilled about how much easier this product made his life. Recently, my wife had cataract surgery and was told not to bend over for at least a month--I purchased this product for her, and it made both our lives easier, because she stopped asking me to pick things up off the floor. The two lengths suit her perfectly. When some tissue paper in a piece of clothing accidentally went through the washer and left her with a tub fill of small bits of tissue. She used the short pickup stick to remove the tissue and was amazed that she was able to pick up such small bits of tissue. This product would be a fabulous gift for most any disabled or elderly person.
