Excellent product so far. No LEAKS! Beyond that, the juice inside will need 4-8 months to reveal the flavors from the medium char. The fact that it holds water makes it worth the cost of admission. I think they sent me the low confidence model lol. Mine started leaking because it is riddled with cracks. I will not be able to reuse it but as of now it's still kind of holding the liquid. (See Picture) I would still buy this barrel again. Maybe I should have been more attentive when I placed the tap and asked for a better one from the company. It’s very good. I followed the instructions to the tee, and it leaked a little from the bunghole and the spicket but after the 5 days of being filled with water it stopped dripping. After filling it with my Brandy mix there were a few drops the first day and then it was fine.

I bought one barrel several months ago and followed all the prep instructions. It leaked somewhat but I was able to get through 5 weeks aging by continuing to add liquor. I gave up on it eventually. I decided to give them one more chance and bought the more expensive 1 liter barrel. Filled it with hot water and it leaked like a sieve. Much worse than the first one. I soaked it 5 days including submerging it in a bucket of water for a day. I decided to try filling it with bourbon and you can see in the picture that it is leaking badly on both ends. In one week, I have lost nearly a whole bottle 750ml of bourbon that was in it. I will never buy anything from this company again. Very poor quality.

I purchased this barrel in September 2025. It was packaged very well. I followed the instructions and prefilled with water and let stand (under roof) outside, for 3 days. There was a meniscal weep mark near the bottom which had dried by the third day. I barrel 3 gallons of Ancient Ancient Age and 2 Gallons of Benchmark Full Proof on September 22, 2025. We sampled the barrel weekly after the first month and determined it was beautifully finished on November 22, 2025. I have shared the juice with several bourbon enthusiast who LOVE the taste and compare it with high end Buffalo Trace Products with high age statements. Again, the barrel rested, under my grill cover on a covered out door porch. There was slight weeping into the Bung, which was very tight, and some minor weeping into the faucet (which never leaked). The barrel never developed any leaks and we only lost liquid to the oak itself. The finished bourbon was spectacular and I will purchase another NEW barrel for more bourbon. As for this particular barrel, we have refilled with a similar combination, and have kept it inside since December 2025. The aging process has slowed significantly but still improving. We plan to run one more batch of bourbon through it during spring 26 before experimenting with a clear spirit. I realize this is a lengthy review, but I wanted to completely describe my experience with this product and cite reasons why I gave it 5 stars and will purchase again. It leaks. But, if water is hot and you don't disturb it. It's ok. I'm going to try another. They may just be to small. The wood has to be cut to precise size and barrel rings done just right. Knock on wood. I've not had any problems with the 2 liter size. You just have to be careful with the 1 liter. Bought a second 1liter barrel. It doesn't leak. I used a dead blow hammer and hammered down on rings. One was loose. It's working great.

The angels were thirsty and took a bit more of their share! Round one: Prepared the barrel by soaking it in hot water. Filled it up with my a gallon and a half of my special blend “Birthday Bourbon” that I … ahem, distilled. After six months we had an early tasting of three small shot glasses and it was fantastic. Put it back to sleep in my cool, dry basement workshop and a year later on my birthday, filled another shot glass to give it a taste. And nothing. Just a drip, drip, drip. Picked it up and shook it, and it was empty. No staining on my shelf to indicate leaks, no staining on the barrel. So, the angels must have really like that batch and took way more than their fare share. My mother in law, who lives downstairs swears it wasn’t her. So, on to round 2. Cleaned it with the barrel cleaning kit and soaked it in hot water several times to condition it. Going to fill it to the rim with BB v2.0 and wait. Got a Blink camera to watch it too. Will update y’all on my 60th birthday next year. Stay tuned.

The barrel is well crafted, highly recommended. The cradle, not so much. It was made from plywood, definitely does not match the beautiful barrel. One problem, the barrel arrived without a hole for the spigot ! I hope the seller will get it resolved.

I soaked it, I submerged it, I used boiling water but the barrel still leaked. It almost sealed once, but replacing the water with anything alcoholic just reinvigorated the leaks. Finally I cut the barrel in half and used the pieces of staves in jars. The wood had a nice char and worked well when used that way. Cool little barrel for a gift or decoration, not so much for use.
