  • Quality -- wait for more reviews before using for your $$$ batteries
The look and feel of this charger is quite good. It's also a lot larger and heavier than I was expecting, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It includes a pair of alligator clips for temporary connection, and a pair of post eyes for a more permanent connection. All my fishing batteries are charged for the winter. Just for fun I pulled out a small AGM and small lithium battery and connected them. The Lithium did as I expected -- it charged for about 10 seconds and then showed full charge. The AGM battery went into repair mode. Huh. I'd only used the battery once, although I did drain it completely before charging for the winter. I can't confirm whether the battery really needed repair, yet it continued to charge after the repair was done. I'm going to trust the charger for now and update this review should I notice an ongoing issue. There's a couple things I'd like to see different. First, the charger did not detect what kind of battery, AGM/Lithium/Calcium, I'd connected. I needed to select myself. Second, it's 10A total, split between 2 batteries. My 'good' Lithium battery is 10A for one battery as opposed to 5A with this charger. I knew that when I purchased it, and time will tell whether the charge time is twice as long. I want all my batteries including the 100AH to charge fully overnight. I'm giving this 5 stars and will update as I use it. Would I trust my $100K bass boat and $1000 worth of Li batteries with this charger? No. When I google the brand Opergen I don't even get a website for them. This is likely a Chinese company, and although most chargers are made overseas, you want a brand with a good quality reputation protecting your electronics. ... show more

  • Good charger at a good value
Overall I think this is a great charger and am primarily giving it four stars only because I have another, very similar but name brand charger, that just seems a bit overall heavier made. Specifically, the casing is just a bit smaller and both the power cord and charging cords seem to be of a bit smaller gauge wire than the name brand chargers. What I do like though, that the more expensive chargers didn't come with, is two sets of connectors, both alligator clips and eye rings for permanent attachment. These different ends connect with the standard batter charger connector, so if you already have other batteries with charging connectors on them, you will be able to easily use this charger. Bottom line, for the money, this is a great charger and has all the features of the more expensive brands, just a bit less "heavy duty." I would recommend this charger, just realize it may be a bit lighter duty than other more expensive chargers. ... show more

  • Excellent Battery Charger with Advanced Features and a load of accessories
I recently picked up this battery charger to replace an older, well-known brand, and I’m amazed at how far technology has come. This charger not only supports charging two batteries at once, but it also includes all the necessary hookups, such as alligator-style clips and quick-connect SAE style connections. What I Love About It: Versatile & Multi-Battery Support: It can charge virtually any type of battery, including lithium, calcium, and standard flooded acid automotive batteries. Advanced Charging Technology: The manufacturer states that it features an advanced diagnostics system, allowing it to charge batteries with 0% charge. It even includes a desulfator, which in theory, can revive batteries that would otherwise be considered dead. I haven’t had the chance to test this feature yet, but it’s reassuring to have. Weatherproof Design: Being waterproof, it’s ideal for installation in a boat, RV, or outdoor environment. It’s also built to withstand both hot and cold weather conditions. Compact & Efficient: Compared to my old charger, this one is far more compact while packing in significantly more technology and functionality. If you're still using an outdated charger or looking for a reliable and feature-rich upgrade, I highly recommend this one. It offers more value than many big-name brands at a great price and includes every accessory you need! ... show more

  • Specific design that addresses a need and a want.
Both of my boats have dual batteries and an isolator switch. In the winter, I use a single bank charger with the isolator switch set to "ALL" and have not had problems. But I wonder. This takes that unknown out of the question and puts the charge directly to EACH battery. I like that. A LOT. I will run tests since I have had only one charger and have had to switch out the charger between boats. This charger will enable me to actually side by side field test each unit. My hunch is this. The isolator switch works just fine, but is not ideal. Maybe it is not worth buying this to replace a good single bank charging unit that is working with an isolator switch. But if you have dual batteries and need a new charger, THIS is the one you want to get! ... show more

  • Well Constructed Charger With Issues
The charger arrived well packaged and with all accessories needed for immediate use. You have the option to use more temporary alligator clips or ring terminals. The box and housing indicate that it is IP68 waterproof and it does appear to be a sealed unit. The reason for 3 stars is this product has several issues. In my opinion for a 10 amp charger the wire gauge used for both the AC power cord and DC charging cords should be a heavier gauge. This is not UL listed but the box states it is ETL listed yet the charger itself has neither UL or ETL signified on it. This makes me question if this unit has actually been tested or not. The manual is pretty basic just showing how to hook up and operate the charger. There is no contact information for the manufacturer in the manual or Amazon listing that I can find. Add to this the fact that the Opergen brand seems to have no web presence. They indicate this comes with a 1 year warranty but if you have any issues with it I am not real sure how you are supposed to contact them. I was hoping this would be an onboard charger for our boat but with these issues it likely will be a charger for use around the house after pulling the batteries for the season. ... show more
