I lost the use of my left hand due to a cerebral hemorrhage, so opening things is often difficult for me. This little vise is almost like having another hand. I can open the vise by turning the handle with my [fully functional] right hand, position an object like a bottle of eye drops, a tube of lip balm, or the like in the vise, and hold the object in place with my thumb and forefinger while turning the handle with my little finger to tighten the vise. Then I can use my strong right hand to pull or twist that cap right off. This hard-working little vise is a significant improvement over the previous model offered here (see photo). The handle on the latter featured little rubber caps on each end, and the caps were prone to coming off, falling to the floor and disappearing. Then there was nothing to prevent the handle itself from sliding off and similarly vanishing. The current model features a handle that is one continuous rod of steel , with a knob of steel on each end. This handle will stay put, and since a vise without a handle is essentially useless, this is an important improvement. This vise isn't dirt-cheap, but I think the current model is well worth it. ... show more

    • Not a Black Walnut Cracker...but prob good for other things..or nuts.

Got this to try to crack black walnuts. I tried to get this to crack them and put a ton of pressure to this vice. It did not break the walnut, but also did not break the vice. So I will keep it for other things. Seems to be made well as I did put a more force on it than it probably should have had. A full size vice is the only thing that gets these things open, so if your looking to crack nuts might want to look at a specific Black Walnut Cracker. ... show more

First off, for the money it's amazing! It holds very well and is very sturdy. I trust it. I can't say that it's the quality of my dad's old bench vise, and it's not quite as smooth but I'm expecting many many years of service from it and I predict it will actually get better with age unlike many products made these days. ... show more

This clamp just has that high quality feel when using it. It's heavy, sturdy, and turning the tightening mechanism is very satisfying like a larger sized unit. The grip is good, but you may need to file/sand it down or attach a couple of wooden/rubber slats to avoid marring certain materials you plan on clamping. I found that sanding the area where the jaws grip is the easiest and quickest way to get a smooth surface. As for quality, you just won't find a better clamp at this size and price range. I wouldn't even bother looking at others. I've tried so many and have been disappointed by all of them except for this one, which I should have started with in the first place. ... show more

There are no any "lining" on the fixing surfaces which are rough and can scratch a table desks etc. I had to glue some resin to fixing surfaces and now the item is just perfect. For the price - excellent.
