I bought this helmet as backup, but now I wear it as primary

When I ordered this helmet, I was like for the money how good can it possibly be? The reviews seemed favorable and that's what tipped me, so now I will add my own review. I ride an HD Electra Glide for considerable distances sometimes, and your gear should match its most extreme use. As a half-helmet rider for years I was out on a country road and had a tense moment when an SUV passed me at the worst possible time. For the whole ride home I had time to consider my gear and how it would've actually protected me in a collision, if I had been an inch to the left and got hit by the SUV instead of a close look at it going past me. I found this helmet and ordered it, thinking at least I could offer a passenger full face protection on the road if I hated the helmet. It arrived surprisingly fast, in a double box, and it fit absolutely perfect on my head. Took it for a 300-mi ride in the NC low country that weekend, and it is on that experience I base this review. Wind noise is slightly more noticed than with some helmets, although my full dresser HD has a wind screen and that creates some odd buffeting that non-screen riders would never experience. That all being said, this helmet performs spectacularly in all aspects, and especially considered for cost. The face cover slides up easily, so you can even put it up or down while riding. The flip-down shades are convenient, for days you're in and out of the sun a lot, and you can't easily swap sungoggles on or off every few minutes. They also make you feel like you're flying an X-wing fighter, so for those who like Star Wars there is that benefit. The clear faceplate is easy to manage. I might make the thumb tab a bit larger since I peeled a nail back in trying to deal with it, but that's not the helmet's fault so much as my lack of familiarity with a new helmet. Actually the faceplate is easy to remove, enough so that I might pack with me a few clean replacements for summer days with lots of bugs. Honestly I can recommend this helmet to anyone, at least from a usage perspective. God forbid I ever test it for safety, but with that in mind I think a longer ride merits a face shield. Hope this review helps somebody decide, like other reviews did for me with this helmet. I'm betting the vast majority of buyers feel as I do, and this helmet is excellent value for features. Just buy it. So I bought this because it was one of the cheaper modular helmets. First off: if you're considering a modular helmet - Absolutely do it. Being able to flip up and breathe at low speeds, or talk to someone, hit the vape, etc. Second: I recently hit a deer riding at 70 mph.. me and my R6 rolled, flipped, and skid about 300ft from the impact. I was wearing this helmet, a t-shirt, and jeans. The moment I stopped, I was able to stand up, pickup my phone (which came with on the quad-lock (definitely get one)), and call for help. I would absolutely not be alive without this helmet, so I highly recommend it. And to new riders: I'm glad you're shopping for helmets, but whatever you get; please wear it. Head Shape is Important

This helmet is a good helmet. Sizing is accurate, features work as they should, comes well packaged. Sun visor feels cheap and almost feels like its going to break while being actuated, and the helmet face requires a good squeeze to be sure its reseated after opening. But for what you pay it's worth it. DO YOUR RESEARCH ON YOUR HEAD SHAPE!!! I found that I have an intermediate oval head and this helmet is more suited for people with a rounder head. It is tight on my forehead but comfortable to my cheaks. I am assuming its related to head shape. I was able to adjust the liner to fix the issue. Other than that a GOOD HELMET FOR THE PRICE POINT. Nice helmet, update

Wanted a full face helmet. I'm getting older and I'm tired of bugs and other stuff hitting me in the face. I was a bit concerned about the low price. So I checked out a lot of reviews and most were positive so I ordered one. I'm quite happy with it. First it's modular. The whole lower section flips up, or you can flip up the visor. Also has an interior sun shield that flips up or down. Feild of vision is good. It's comfortable, but just a bit on the heavy side. For the money, you can't go wrong. One thing. Be sure to measure your head. These run a bit on the small side. I ordered a large after measuring and it fits fine. I'll update this review after I go for a long ride and check out the ventilation, road noise etc. Update: had this helmet out for a few rides. I stand by my 5 star review. Ventilation is good and road noise is ok. And it's not as heavy as I thought. Love the ability to flip up the visor. It's got a small tab on the left side and flips up and down with ease. Good cheap modular

Ive always used full faced helmets snowmobiling and mx helmets off road. I'm riding on road now and full faced are a bit of a pain to talk to other riders, refule and getting my glasses on. Never used a modular before so I wanted a cheap one to try. I'm happy with it, open it's a lot cooler, talking is much easier without haveing to remove the helmet. Has cutouts in the Styrofoam shell for speakers for an intercom too thay I didn't see mentioned. Inner sun sheild works well, easy to get down. Huge plus for people with glasses, you don't have to try and putting clip ons on your glasses or dealing with a tinted sheild all the time. Helmet is lightweight compared to my hjc snowmobile helmets. Build quality seems good. It does flex some when it's open at the front, but that's normal on modulars and why you have to use them with the front closed. Fit is good, my head is a weird shape, it measures a med but I have to wear an xl hjc or it's painful. I ordered an xl of this helmet and it was a bit lose. I emailed the company and asked to buy a set of LG pads to see if that would work. With out asking they shipped me a set for free which is very nice of them. With the LG cheek pads it does fit, a hair lose at ths top but that could be my weird head lol ... show more

An nice inexpensive alternative

To provide a little backstory, I purchased an AGV helmet (not modular) about 2 years ago. I love that helmet, but it's an absolute nightmare with my hair extensions. I purchased this inexpensive modular helmet with the plan of purchasing a higher end modular helmet if I decided I liked it. I didn't expect much from this helmet considering I am comparing it to my $250 AGV, but let me tell you, I am shocked at the quality of this. Of course it feels a bit cheaper, but it functions exactly how I need it to. A few notes about the design: I will never go back to a traditional helmet. Period. Modular all the way. I definitely feel like a fkn dork when I have the face portion lifted when im taking it on and off, but it's worth it. It's so much easier to get in and out of with my hair extensions, ear piercings, and ear buds. The road noise is not much louder than my AGV which is shocking. Another thing I noticed that I really cannot explain is the aerodynamics. I dont know what it is, but I dont feel like my head it getting blown around as much in this helmet as it does my AGV. I ride a naked sport bike, so I literally experience all the wind. Im not sure if perhaps the AGV just didn't fit properly or if there really is something to the design of this inexpensive one. I noticed it is the same height as my AGV, but it is a bit wider. Im assuming this is bc of the extra room needed for all of the mechanical parts needed to make it modular. Not a deal breaker, just worth mentioning. Im very small, so this makes me look even more like a bobblehead than my original helmet. I would recommend this helmet all day for anyone looking for something inexpensive and modular. Im going to keep wearing it for the season and I'll report back if anything changes. ... show more

Confession: I spent HOURS researching helmets before buying this one. Because my bike doesn’t have a fairing, I wanted a full-face helmet. And because I know how hot a full-face helmet can be, I wanted a flip-up. Bottom line: I am very pleased! It is lightweight (relatively speaking, because full-face flip-ups can be heavier), comfortable, and - unlike some others - has a quick release on the chin strap. A single button located on the inside middle in front of your chin easily and intuitively releases the chin guard and, when pulling it down, noticeable clicks on each side let you know it is secure. It has three vents that can be opened (in front of your mouth and two on the top) and back vents that remain open. Noise levels are good, pads remove for washing, and the clear visor removes easily for cleaning. The interior sun visor is a bonus, although I’ve not used it much. The helmet fits true to size; however, I did notice that the sizing chart for this model varies from other models from this brand, so please double-check before buying. This is an excellent helmet for the price and I would buy again. I’ll update this review if any problems arise. ... show more

Excellent Value, Comfort and Functionality

This is the first full-faced helmet I have bought or even used and it is excellent! Some reviews mentioned fogging and it has only done that when I stop at a light and take a deep breath. Just the lower part fogs but if I flip the clear visor just one click up it is gone immediately. With the vents open it does not fog while moving. I do love how the visor can flip up and hold a notch at a time in more than one position. It is very easy to open and close do with the small lip for your thumb. The quick-release chin strap is one of the easiest I have used. I do tuck the excess up into the helmet so it doesn't beat one of my three chins to death. The fit was spot on with my measurement and I bought a large. I especially like the flip-down darkened visor within the helmet. No need for sunglasses anymore! Lastly, being able to flip up the entire front face piece to talk to someone (preferably not a cop) without having to remove the helmet altogether is perhaps one of the best features.
