I am using this plastic mesh to help keep chicks from crossing into a field where some of our not-so-great-with-chickens dogs are. This mesh is perfect for this purpose and the green isn't overly gaudy with a grass background. It's definitely easier to use than actual metal chicken wire. Important note! While this plastic mesh will keep chicks and chickens in, it will not protect your poultry from hungry dogs, foxes, etc. Many animals can easily chew and tear this kind of plastic mesh, so this is not for use for chicken runs, etc. BUT - part of the description says, "Pet Fencing Mesh: Keep your dog kitten from getting through the bars of the gate. Prevent other wild animals like critters deers rabbits chipmunks from entering your garden and destorying your flower beds, bushes or plants." Aside from the typo, I would not trust this mesh to hold up well to a dog or puppy determined to make an escape. While it is fairly heavy duty plastic, it could certainly be chewed through. Cats? OK - it might work for house cats. Deer? In light of the fact that deer can easily clear a 6' fence, you would need a LOT of this to keep "deers" from entering your garden. I'm not saying it's not possible, but I'm not sure this would be the most cost effective rout to go. Rabbits and chipmunks? Both of these animals are adept chewers and both can dig under a fence easily. I wouldn't recommend this for chewers or jumpers. That said, it would certainly provide tree trunk protection from sheep. Goats? Depends how tasty that tree trunk is and how tenacious your goat(s) are. All that said, this would be perfect for crafts, building an indoor butterfly cage for your school, and many other things that don't involve tenacious, chewing critters. ... show more

    • easier to use if you don't need metal
This is a great substitute for fencing if you don't need metal as it is much easier to use. It seems rigid enough to me, though time will tell if bunnies can chew through it. I got it to use around plants to protect them in summer and winter from hungry critters. Last year was tough on plants as we had a lot of snow and bunnies were looking for anything they could munch on. I'm hoping this wrapped around things will send them looking in another yard. I also am starting to volunteer for a foster kitty rescue and I liked the suggestion of another user to use it on gates to keep them from fitting through the bars when they are really tiny. This will be so handy for that as it will be super easy to work with, much easier to cut and form than chicken wire which makes me crazy to use and I always end up scraped up. Used this to keep the bunnies out of the garden. The chicken wire is made of plastic but it is thick and firm, it stands up on its own. It’s almost a foot and a half high and 15 feet long so you may need 2 if you have a large garden or need a larger enclosure.

My application for this is to thwart the local squirrels and chipmunks. The seen to enjoy digging up small bulbs and tubers I plant in trays and apparently eat them. The mesh lets the sun and water in, but it is also strong enough to resist their attempts to dig my bulbs up. This could also be used with stakes to wrap around plants in your garden that are being attacked by hungry animals like rabbits etc. ... show more

I used this product actually to make a mesh to block furnace vents in our house. Our toddler likes to throw things down holes and wanted to throw as much little things as possible down the vents, yay. I got this to be able to cut out the right size and shape to fit to our vents and keep him from throwing stuff down. It is clearly strong but it does bend/flex quite a bit too. I kind of wish the holes in it were a little bit smaller, but for what it is, it works very well. Only very tiny things now get pushed down into our vents. I'm planning on using the rest in our garden, to surround some small plants to help them grow and not get munched on by smaller animals. ... show more

We added a brooding coop and used this around the bottom of it. It keeps the chicks from wandering away from their momma and the holes are small enough to keep our predators. It's very easy to install. We just used zip ties. The mesh appears to be very durable and I'm happy to know that our chicks are safe. I would definitely recommend this! ... show more
