This is truly a durable chain, with the 4.2mm thickness and I ordered the 30" ince length because I was needing a longer chain. If has some weight to it and the color is passable enough, stating 14K (rolled gold) on the clasp. A little bit expensive for the price, but not as much as some of the bigger known brands out there. I think it would a make a good gift also, but you would have to prep it first, taking it out of the plastic bag from whence it came. Lastly, a good substitute for a gold chine while you makeyour fortune and can get a solid gold chain yourself! ... show more

Very thick rope chain. The chain comes with a tag that says 14K gold "material"-- does not give any other explanation -- gold plated? Gold color? The necklace has some weight to it. It hangs very well and shines well. The color is a bit off from other gold necklaces. The clasp is very secure. It is pricey-- if it is not 14K Gold-- but the tests we have done on the necklace indicate gold...... it looks nice and hangs very well! I like having a variety of chain lengths when I wear a crew neck or turtleneck top or dress. This chain looks very brassy next to my other gold jewelry. It's also a very thick rope chain. I prefer a thinner chain but I think this would look great for a guy. Can easily be double-wrapped for a shorter hang.
