Should have purchased the next thinner chain size. Confirm bail and clasp/claw size will fit through.. otherwise great product ,workmanship and service.

Just bought this for my daughter and had to turn right around and order one for me as well. I did all the at home tests to see if it really is real 14k and as of now everything says yes it is. I’m shocked as I just looked at similar chains at the store and they are running about 550-750.00. I will take to jewelry store to have it verified as well. I am however very pleased!!! ... show more

I like to wear chains pretty much daily. I consider myself to be pretty masculine and my jewelry of choice is stainless steel of various styles, colors, hues and thicknesses. I actually haven’t considered yellow gold jewelry for maybe a couple of decades so when I saw this offered up it was like a blast from the past especially rope style so I thought I would order it and check it out. I think this was a 1.5mm but it may be a 2mm it doesn’t say on the invoice and tbh I can’t remember which was offered but it’s quite a bit smaller than the thicker chains I normally wear. It has a satin hue with muted sparkles in the light. I got a 22” that sits perfectly on my chest at the point where my shirt buttons at the top. This allows for a charm that I bought that fit’s perfectly and is the perfect size for this chain to show nicely. The price of this chain suggests that it is real gold and it has 14k stamped on the hoop side of the clasp (it’s hard to see, but it’s there, you can just make it out in my pic) and one reviewer actually had it checked by a jeweler who confirmed -according to the reviewer- that it is a real gold necklace. I was able to find an inexpensive gold plated charm that looks like a gold bar that complements it very well imo and I’m really looking forward to having this chain to switch up my look so I can say that I will definitely be getting a lot of wear out of this chain. Value wise I honestly can’t say if this is a good deal right now because the price of gold is so volatile that the price has changed since I received mine. But, compared to similar products I have researched online, the price of 14k gold 22” rope chains are considerably more expensive than what the original cost of my chain was. I got the 1.5mm 24" 14k yellow gold chain. This chain is the perfect thickness to hang a pendant. (Thicker chains really elevate a pendant and creates a much nicer look IMO.) It is substantial, but not SO wide that larger pendant bails won't fit. I will say, though, if the pendant bail is small and designed for a super thin chain, you may have to change the bail out to use this rope chain for it. The chain has a nice lobster claw clasp. That being said, the chain is 24", so I will only unclasp it to add/change out a pendant. You can pop this right over your head, which is super convenient. I highly recommend this rope chain. This is an attractive chain. The surface appears to be gold. For the price, I really doubt it is solid gold, but it is probably gold-plated. I think the rope twist looks nice and would be good with a pendant. The clasp isn't tiny and may not work with smaller pendant bails.
