My usual supplier for wire clay cutters was out of stock, but I needed them ASAP so I ordered these instead. They were more expensive than what I usually pay, so I figured they had to be at least decent. I was wrong. These are either stunningly awful, or embrace some new theory of design that was heretofore unknown to me. Here is how the design process likely went: Q: We are fabricating a tool that customers are going to grasp with their bare hands and apply some force to, how do we ensure that this is an acceptable experience? A: Make sure the wood is as cheap as possible and has extra splinters. We want to make sure that everyone is as awake as possible and experiencing life fully while using our product. Q: Our product utilizes a strand of twisted wire as a cutting implement. What important factors do we need to take into account, not just for the lifetime of the product but in terms of secure attachment to the aforementioned handles? A: Customers should appreciate the effort that goes into manufacturing a good clay-cutting tool, and we will do our part to enhance the appreciation of this fine craft by providing a product on the opposite end of the spectrum for comparison. We will insure that not only do we employ the cheapest wire possible in the models that we manufacture so that it is prone to breakage, but that we also include an additional micro-length of wire that protrudes backwards out of each handle so as to add an extra component of spiciness to the splinters already present on our wooden grips. I needed these in the classroom fast so I sanded the handles and fixed the wire protrusions myself but I absolutely will not buy these again. ... show more

I can tell these won’t last long. One wire already came loose and some of the other wires are poking out of the wood handle so I’ve poked myself with the wire while working with them.

I used these in high school ceramics and needed an affordable bulk option. Students typically snap these trying to cut through leather hard clay or twist them until they break, so I bought this pack.
