  • 4 Chime Modes - Mode 1: Ave Maria on the hour, then the hour strikes. Mode 2: Westminster at :15, :30 and :45, plus melody and strikes on the hour. Mode 3: Westminster on the hour, then strikes. Mode 4: hour strikes only, no melody. Volume is adjustable; aim the speaker at an opening, as a solid panel in front of it muffles the sound.
  • Fit Check Before You Order - Total shaft 23.5 mm (59/64 in), thread 16 mm (5/8 in). Fits dial panels 11-13 mm (0.43-0.51 in) thick and needs an 8.5-10 mm mounting hole. Hands fit dials 8-14 in. across. Pendulum supplied: 150 mm; the movement drives one up to 35 cm and 40 g. Not for full-size floor clocks.
  • Hourly Chime, Overnight Pause - The chimes stop after 9:00 pm and start again at 6:00 am. The pause covers the quarter-hour chimes too, applies to all four modes and cannot be adjusted. To stop the chimes at any time, remove the two AA cells from the chime module; the movement keeps time on its own battery.
  • What Is in the Box - 12888 pendulum movement, Westminster chime module, 8-ohm 1 W speaker, 150 mm pendulum with 60 mm bob, 2 sets of hands, two second hands (black 100 mm and red 90 mm, fit either), 2 washers and a hex nut, illustrated manual with video. Batteries are not included: you supply 3 AA, two for the chime module and one for the movement. No dial or case; indoor use only.
  • Wrong Strike Count? Press SET - SET adjusts the chime module only; it does not move the hands. The first press sets 6:00 and each press after moves ahead one hour, so 10:00 am takes 5 presses. Count presses, not sounds: presses from 10 pm to 5 am are silent but still count. Chiming at night and skipping the day means a 12-hour offset, so press SET 12 times. If the chime lands minutes early or late, refit the minute hand at exactly 12.

Will it fit my clock? Fits dials 8-14 in. Choose by panel thickness at the center hole: 17 mm shaft for 4-6 mm (5/32-15/64 in) panels; 23.5 mm shaft for 11-13 mm (7/16-33/64 in). Includes 2 hand styles and a 150 mm pendulum. Uses 3 AA batteries (not included). What are the 4 chime modes? Mode 1: Ave Maria melody + hour strikes. Mode 2: Westminster chimes every quarter hour (:15, :30, :45) plus melody and strikes on the hour. Mode 3: Westminster melody + hour strikes. Mode 4: hour strikes only. Volume knob: clockwise = louder. Will it chime all night? No. Chimes pause automatically from 10 PM to 5 AM and resume at 6 AM - no setup needed. This applies to all 4 modes. For total silence anytime, remove the 2 music box batteries; the clock keeps time on its own battery. How to adjust the chime music box to the current time? Reinstall the music box batteries to reset it. The first SET press rings 6 times. Keep pressing (1 press = 1 hour) until the rings match the current hour, e.g. 10:00 AM = 5 presses. Night hours (10 PM-5 AM) are silent, so count presses, not sounds. Why is there no chime, or a chime at the wrong time? Chimes are silent 10 PM-5 AM. Chime at the wrong minute: reinstall the minute hand pointing exactly at 12. Wrong number of rings: press SET once per missing hour. Chimes at night, silent by day: press SET 12 times. The quality of the components reflects the price. Operation is good, once you figure out the process of setting the chime and clock to be aligned. The volume of the speaker is that of a pocket radio and if enclosed, nearly inaudible. I fabricated a small soundbox with a grill to the outside. 1) The hardware kit is missing a jam nut to adjust the penetration depth of the main clock stem. I was fortunate to have a 3d printer and fabricated a standoff to adjust the height of the stem above the clockface. 2) An additional set of 2-pin connectors would have been nice for the chime trigger electronics (blue wires). Beware, if they are inadvertently shorted, it will signal the chime circuit to advance to the next event (next hour.) The chimes are set to a 24-hour day, so the chime is silent after 10pm and resumes after 5am even is using the button. I did not find a setting for this, so I am assuming it is hard-coded. i.e. If the chime sounds 11, the clock is indicating 11am, not 11pm which would be silent. 3) The startup default is at 6am which is useful. I advise waiting to put the hands in position until after rotating the time set adjustment (wheel in back) to the next audible chime, then (between and 6am and 10pm) attach the hands to indicate the chime event. 4) The grey button advances the chime to the next event, not necessarily the time indicated by the hands. I found that the chime is silent for button presses between 10pm and 5am, with the next audible event at 6am. 5) It is important that the chime event is triggered by the clockwork, so rotate the time setting (slowly) until the chime sounds. I found that there is a very slight "click" to send the signal, only then place the hands in the appropriate position, then, once the hands are attached, set the real time with the adjustment wheel. Note: If the chime is set to do Westminster on the quarter, the first quarter chime may not agree. It seems to reset itself when it hits the full hour chime and recovers the actual quarter hour position. 6) Pushing the hands around the clock will not work. 7) It is important that the clockwork is aligned N/S to the clockface, so that when the chime sounds, the minute hand is at 12 and the pendulum is at 6. 8) Accuracy of timekeeping is unknown at the time of this writing. Overall, inexpensive and somewhat frustrating, given the clarity of the included instructions and missing parts. I wish Asian manufactures employed western interpreters for proofreading English. The instructions came straight out of an AI interpreter so be prepared with the thesaurus. It has become a point of humor for my Engineering friends. i.e. We have most hearty and tearful outbursts of laughter observing the syntactical arrangement of English language lexicon. LOL ADDED: I see a lot of reviews complaining about the duration of the battery. DO NOT USE CARBON batteries. Under load, these batteries fall below 1.2V at around 75% remaining capacity, which is awful. (1.2V is the typical brown-out for economy electronics). I use AA Lithium based primary cells when used as single cell source or source to electronic modules. i.e. "Energizer Ultimate". Extremely flat discharge voltage curve remaining at 1.5V to 5% remaining capacity. They have 3x the capacity of a quality Alkaline and easily100x the 1.5v duration of carbon/zinc.     • Loved the sound and the vendor support

It was easy to install and set up. However, after about one week, the chime started to malfunction. Sometimes it would work fine and at other times it would not chime or would only partially complete the chime. Then the hour chime stopped working correctly and chimed the wrong hour even though it had previously been correct. Although I was initially very happy with the mechanism, I ultimately returned it because of unsatisfactory performance. Review updated based on vendor support. Based on my review, I received messages and support from the vendor, including a replacement for the original mechanism which I had returned. The vendor stayed in contact with me until I had successfully installed the replacement mechanism and it was working as expected. I want to offer the highest praise for the attention I received from the vendor and the quality of the product. ... show more

I purchased 2 kits. The chimes sound great & pleased with the 4 options for chimes. I am not pleased with the fact that it chimes when it wants to. I have tried everything to reset it with no luck. The clock seems to keep proper time but can’t handle the chimes on one kit chimes 10 minutes after the hour and the other is 10 before the hour. I will be sending both kits back.. update to previous problems- Mia with WinTaim reached out to me & sent another kit and was very supportive of the process to install & continued to check back with me until I had it installed & working properly.     • Horn/Chime Not Working

The Clock assembly is working fine, but the chime, also known as horn on the video is not. I’m a clockmaker and have been assembling clocks for years and I followed all instructions on videos provided. I also use my voltage test or to make sure that it wasn’t a mistake on my end. My voltage sensor showed that there was a short inside the chime, I feel $30 is a lot of money to pay for a defective product. ... show more

It’s a shaker style mantle clock and I used an old Seth Thomas dial and watch glass The kit bolted right to the center of the dial. There was plenty of room to put the speaker and control box. Good sound but.... My school house clock is running again. This item is harder to install than it should. If you buy this one you will will also need; double sided tape to mount the chime box (should have been included), button connectors to connect the clock to the chime (should have had a connector), and the "instructions" could have been Chinese for all the good it is. For example 7) The horn line is connected with the trigger of the clock movement The two wires cannot be touched together, and they need to be wrapped with insulating tape; Translation: Connect the two blue wires from the clock movement to the two blue wires from the music box with the two button connectors not provided; The 5th picture on this item does illustrate this. If you roll the magnifier over the image you'll see it a little better. The pendulum is too short for my clock but my old one seem to work. ... show more
