Beginner at this and this kit made it easy. Got my vegetables to start sprouting and it seemed to be going well but perhaps I planted outside too early. Some made it but a lot didn’t. Definitely a learning process for a novice but worth the effort and fun learning.

This ia a wonderful little kit that gives you just enough of everything to grow a season's worth of plants. I'm doing herbs right now. Everything fit my unit perfectly and I am glad not to have extra pieces to store. The inclusion of the plant food makes the set really complete. I just planted today; can't wait to see my seedlings sprout!

I haven't used my AeroGarden in years and the liquid food/solution is old. I thought these were a nice replacements to grow plants from seeds. I'm currently growing herbs and just had one of them pop up after 10 days of sitting in the AeroGarden. The solution is easy to dispense, and I just followed the amount the original AeroGarden solution said to put in the water, as I wasn't sure how much water my older model AeroGarden holds. The plastic holders and lid domes are similar to the original, the only difference is that these plastic holders fit flush with the holes and the lids just sit on top, whereas the AeroGarden brand ones have a little gap between the holder and the hole so the lids pop on and stay on. The dome lids that came with this product just sit on top, and my cat loves to bat them off. They don't snap into the plastic holders like the AeroGarden ones do.

I ordered these pods so I could share specialty plants with friends that I've started from seed. They work great for my needs. QUALITY The plastic used for the pods is quite strong and sturdy. The domes/lids fit the pods very well. I like that I can reuse these plastic pieces over and over again. The sponge medium works great for starting seeds. I have not used the included labels, so cannot comment on how well they stick. FUNCTION I do have a hydroponic growing set, but I am actually using these pods directly in a water tray that I have instead - only because my hydroponic set is already being used. Because of this, I haven't tried fitting the pods in my hydroponic set, but they do look like they would work. I just recently planted seeds in these pods. I added the plant food, and it really seems to be speeding up the growth of these plants. I'm impressed. Once the plants start really growing, I like that I'll be able to give the pods to friends for them to transplant into pots to continue growing the plants. Overall, I am very happy with the quality and function of these seed pods, and I do recommend them.

I don’t have a hydroponics growing system but I still got these to see if I can start some seeds indoors. I was skeptical that this wouldn’t work as is. Some of the seeds were too big for the hole. I had to really force the larger seeds in. I was pleasantly surprised when I started seeing sprouts about a week after. In fact, I had planted the same seeds outside in some different containers, and I was shocked when these indoor pods sprouted seeds quicker than the ones outside. These pods really exceeded my expectations!

These are great. I'd gotten an aero garden last year to grow herbs. I followed the directions & grew lots of herbs, which I froze in zip lock bags to use throughout the year. I may want to grow herbs again after I've used those I've got in the freezer. In the meantime, I wanted to try growing other things, like tomatoes, peppers & lettuce. This set is perfect for allowing me to do that. I've been growing a variety of lettuce types, like red & green Romaine, Ok Leaf, Black seeded Simpson, & Bib lettuce, & they're growing like gangbusters. Rather than cut the lettuce completely off when it's large, I trim leaves individually, leaving behind smaller leaves to continue growing. The smaller leaves grow & new leaves sprout. I've harvested lettuce four times now & couldn't be happier. I harvest it about one a week. What's really nice, is that I have lots more lettuce seeds & extra grow sponges. I an scrub & reuse the baskets that hold the sponges, but have extra in case something happens to the ones I'm currently using. I'll continue to buy more grow sponges & baskets to hold them as needed. This has been great fun. I no longer need to buy & clean lettuce. I harvest what I've grown & it's free of chemicals & insecticides because they aren't really needed when growing indoors. I did grow a bush tomato plant & a pepper & transferred them to pots with soil. They're doing okay but really need to go outside. They'll be able to go out in about a month when the danger of frost has passed.

My hydroponics system is home made by myself and these seed starting sponges and holders fit perfectly. I get the sponges wet with standard tap water which I've let sit overnight. With the sponges only damp, I place a single seed in each one. I have good luck with germination so I am conservative. You may want to place two seeds if you don't mind eliminating one if they both sprout. The kit also includes some liquid nutrient for your new starts, and also some small dome covers if you want to hold in moisture on your seeds and sprouts. I generally monitor the humidity in the grow area overall and place the domes on dry days. Overall this is a very handy little kit to either get you going, or replenish your supply of seed starting gear.
