    • Works well for a compact/portable dryer -- GREAT for the RV
I wanted to get a portable dryer to use with the RV and/or when up at the camping lot (we have power to use this there). It is lightweight, and doesn't necessarily "feel" heavy duty, but the metal housing actually seems pretty comparable to a full-size machine (they all flex when you push on the sides). This has a plastic top piece, which actually got cracked in shipping (I am not deducting any stars because shipping damage isn't a fault of the seller, and it still functions just fine); I think it would have been better if the top was made of metal like the sides. The control panel consists of a knob that turns and pushes, and an indicator that lights up depending on the setting you choose. A small plastic diverter can be attached to the back so you can aim the vented air in any direction you want. I wouldn't recommend using this dryer in an enclosed room or else you will notice it getting muggy because of the warm, damp air that it discharges; you should either open a window, do it where air is better (like in a garage or outside of the RV at a campground), or provide your own ducting to attach to the discharge nozzle and route the air elsewhere. My first time using it, I loaded up a bunch of fresh-out-of-the-washing-machine clothes. The pile I put in filled up the dryer more than halfway, so I decided to use the "Heavy" setting, which runs for 170 minutes by default. I checked the clothes are running it for 80 minutes, and everything was totally dry, so I turned it off. In comparison to a full-sized dryer at home that operates with 240V power, a normal load usually takes us about 45 minutes. This compact dryer, running at only 120V power, took less than twice as long, which seems about right (although the load size is smaller as well, but it IS a compact machine after all). This dryer should work great for occasional use in the RV and when camping, and is small enough to easily move around (it has handles) and put out of the way.
