I used this to place a 3/8" rope light on the back side of the eves surrounding my house in order to provide an indirect lighting effect. Mounts were place at about 1 ft. increments around a 200 foot perimeter. It should be versatile for use on somewhat larger and smaller diameter objects and work well since the cable tie would conform to the size. This is really three products in one that enables placement of wire, cable, rope, etc. Some things could be improved. First is the screw. It would be better if it was made of material that would attract to a magnet. That would allow it to attract to a magnetized driver tip for more of a one handed operation. In this case I was using an electric screwdriver, blind on the back side of the eve while standing on a ladder - less dropped screws. The screws were a good length for direct placement into wood. They would not be suitable for direct placement into drywall due to length and depth of the thread. Second is the zip tie. I had a small number of them where the "zipping" failed as little gate / tab inside the head of the tie broke off, which would make them not hold and required. Also, I had a few where the strap portion broke when it was bent too far. Third is the mount. It was a perfect size for the 3/8" rope light I was placing. However, the edges come to a hard angle. For items smaller that what I was placing it would be better if the edges were slightly rounded so that they didn't form a sharp mandrel for the tie wrap as it comes around the edges. I recommend the maker to improve the product by making the screw of magnetic attracted material, making the cable tie capture mechanism more robust and the tie less susceptible to breaking when bent. The white cable ties help hide the attachment points, but they are more susceptible to UV damage if in direct sun. Users should consider substituting black cable ties for such uses. Other than that the product is reasonably priced and worked very well for my application.

Are the screws on the cheaper side? Yes. But, the people complaining about the screws stripping simply MUST have been doing something wrong. Perhaps they used the wrong bit size or too much torque? I installed about 30 of these to attic rafters, as well as to the back of a desk, which apparently has very hard, dense wood. I used a fairly powerful battery operated drill to get the screws into the wood, using a P2R size screwdriver bit. Due to the reviews, I also lowered the clutch/torque on the drill to about 4 or 5 lb-in to be overly cautious about stripping the screws. The attic rafters were a piece of cake, but I did need to push fairly hard on the drill to get the screws into the dense wood of the desk. But, NOT A SINGLE SCREW STRIPPED even once and the bit stayed perfectly secure in the screws every time. The clips worked great for holding various size combinations of cables/wires and made the cable runs very neat and professional-looking.
