I did not have high hopes for this product but all I can say is wow it worked great, made perfect crimps every time and felt extremely sturdy and well made. I would definitely recommend getting this crimper if you are only crimping occasionally and don't want to spend the extra $$$ on a tool you are only going to use occasionally.

If you're going to do any crimping you need one of these! I have a large pair of cable cutter crimpers, but they are awkward to handle and difficult to use. This little hydraulic setup is compact and efficient and will crimp with the best of them. It comes in a nice case and includes various dies for different size crimping applications. My only complaint is that the casting for the frame section is a bit rough and, as such, the part where the die is supposed to ride in the channel doesn't always hold the die as well as it could. As such, you need to make sure the die is properly aligned, although it could possibly line up with the upper die as pressure is applied. Finally, I wish it had come with a hardened set of cutter dies for cutting lock shackles in an emergency. Overall, it's a nice set that will meet most requirements and should last a very long time.

Purchased this crimper for installing 4 Guage wire on my automobile amplifier. It worked good. I first crimped the terminal end with a slightly larger sized die block set and then finalized the crimp with the correctly sized die block set. This method resulted in a very professional looking terminal end. I tested it mechanically by physically trying to pull apart the wire from the crimped connection but it remained tight. Very nice job results and well worth the purchase price. Update: The crimped wires pulled loose. I had to recrimp them with the next smaller sized dies. Using the next smaller sized dies worked and now, finally, the wires are both mechanically and electricly 100% in working order.

Excellemt tool, especially for cabling. Build a fixure for using helps. Take a flat board 2x6x1 foot. Screw down 2 heater hose screw style clamps. Slid the tool in the rings & trighten up. This holds the tool while you use it.

Easy to use, just do not lose the paperwork, it makes it super easy to find the correct die for your crimp. One review said it will leave the crimp size on the lug, mine did not. So if you are looking to buy it for that reason, be aware it may or may not. Only downside I have seen so far is that I wish the die sizes were stamped to there you can read them while in the case. You also do need to leave one set of crimps in the tool for storage. There is not enough room in the case to store all the dies.
