This is a “we should probably check with the city before you continue building that” tool. The first time I pumped the handle, I didn’t feel like I was crimping a cable—I felt like I was operating a small, hand-powered industrial press that should come with steel-toe boots and a safety briefing. It doesn’t just crimp. It decides the fate of metal. The included dies are like a little set of personalities. Each one says, “Oh, you want 1/8 inch cable? Say less. I will now permanently change its identity.” Also, the cable cutter part is dangerously satisfying. It goes from “this is stainless steel aircraft cable” to “oops, that used to be stainless steel aircraft cable” in one very confident squeeze. Very capable press. I encountered trying to attach a 6 gauge connector to six gauge wire. The crimp was good but it did not secure the wire into the connector. I changed to an 8 connector and re crimped it. It worked great and was very secure. Over all, I think the crimper is very good.

First of all, I want to be clear, this worked great. I installed a cable rail system on my deck and this crimped all my cable stays perfectly. My only "complaint" is that since this is made to crimp potentially large items, you need 2 hands to squeeze the handles when fully opened. Plus, once it is opened wide, you need to pump it 5-6 times before it is small enough to crimp my 1/4 in cable stays. Time consuming but doable. ... show more

Pleasantly surprised. Bought it for a solar project. Didn’t have high hopes given its cost. But was surprised at its functionality. Mind you this is no Klien tools hydraulic crimper but for the handyman this is perfect.

Looks like it will perform exactly how I expect it to. Only knocked a star off because the flimsy case it came with could have been much better. Initial opening had the metal pieces loose everywhere on the inside and there wasn't a clear distinguishable place where every single one could go. (Hid some under head of tool) I would like to retrofit this with some magnets to keep things in place otherwise for now it's good. ... show more
