  • The Best Portable Fishing Kayak Out There
Style: Fin Drive
My Rapido 10.8ft Modular Fin Drive Pedal Fishing Kayak arrived one day earlier than expected. Upon taking it out of the box, I could see that, as advertised, both halves could be easily carried. The 2 modules fit snugly together, so much so that it took some time to get the knack of joining them. When they were in position, the 4 locks secured the halves firmly, and the result was a stable, secure, solid assembly. Unfortunately, the directions for the rudder system contained a picture and statements that did not match the unit I was holding. A gap was shown and described that did not exist. After some trial-and-error attempts, I was able to successfully resolve the dilemma. (You must thread the rope in such a way that the pulley wheel is engaged, which was not described in the directions.) The Pedal drive had been 90% assembled already. All I had to do was insert the pedals in the correct position to accommodate the length of my legs. (I'm 6' 4" and 195 lbs.) The installation of the stadium chair simply required me to screw 2 screws into the slider receivers in the seat rail and adjust for my preferred position. The kayak handles flawlessly, and the broad width of the rear unit provides a surprisingly stable ride even in rough water. As advertised, the kayak can be easily transported in the back of my Subaru SUV. NOTE: despite the fluid operation of the pedals, do not venture out without taking enclosed paddle with you. Because the fin drive can not be operated in reverse, you will find yourself in situations in shallow water or brush near the water's edge that you can extricate yourself only by the use of the paddle. The price for this kayak is surprisingly reasonable considering the quality of vessel that you're buying. I'm thoroughly delighted with my new Modular Kayak and look forward to weekly fishing trips to the Adirondaks and Finger Lakes of upstate New York all summer long. ... show more

  • Best starter pedal prop kayak for the price
Style: Propeller Drive
First time pedal kayak for me. Stability is good. It actually moves faster in the water than I expected from reading prop vs flat reviews. Easy to assemble and holds up pretty good. For the value of what I paid compare to others I’m not complaining but I will have a few complaints. First off, the damn cup holder is in the worse spot ever. It conflicts with the rudder. Picture for reference. That’s my biggest complaint. I wear a size 10 and for a great foot position on the pedals my feet rubs the orange foam and squeaks like SpongeBobs boots everytime. You have to slouch kinda in your seat to get a good pedaling position. One of my clamps was bent but thank god they gives you a spare replacement one. Also while assembled, it’s freaking heavy. Like extremely heavy. Better to assemble right next to the water but heavy isn’t bad because it’s good material. All in all, I’m happy with my purchase. With just some adjusting and adjustments it will be perfect for my needs. ... show more

  • Set up to fail from the beginning
Style: Propeller Drive
Horrible! After 3 hours of use total the pedals fell off. The arms of the pedals are made of aluminum and the pedals are stainless steel. Was set up to fail from the beginning. A soft metal (aluminum) cannot hold a harder metal it will always fail. On top of that this kayak breaks into 2 pieces which in theory would work but after those same 3 hours of use there were several gallons of water that came out of the back section. Everything was tight as I double checked before going in the water. My guess is the water somehow came in through where the bottom latch is because there is no other way it could come in. By at your own risk! I do not recommend. ... show more

  • Total failure despite having paid a considerable amount of money....
Style: Propeller Drive
I am very disappointed with the kayak and the advertising that the seller makes, I have only used it three times, 1- it is not so easy to transport it in a car or to assemble it by one person alone, 2- the quality of the material used in the manufacture is not first class, deep scratches are easily made, 3- during transportation the screws come loose and you lose them, I had to invest in security screws, 4- the pedals are extremely hard to move, 5- a person who is 5.5 feet tall despite putting the chair as far forward as possible has a hard time reaching the pedals with their legs, 6- this part that I attach a photo is the second time that I have to repair it and as I said I have only used the kayak three times. 7- Stability for fishing leaves many doubts. I do not recommend anyone to stand up for casting fishing. I say this from my own experience. ... show more

  • Great kayak
Style: Fin Drive
It is way more stable then I thought. I've taken it to the ocean and it's everything plus more that I've wanted in a kayak for this price point. With enough practice I think I could stand on it too.

  • Reel yaks customer service is the worst!
Style: Propeller Drive
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Worst customer service (reel yaks) I've ever had the displeasure dealing with! Hole for the prop wasn't tapped and take forever for them to respond!! They tell.me they will send replacement part out, but after waiting a month they then email asking for more information! Summer almost half over and haven't even shipped the part.... ... show more
