We live in Georgia so our trips to the beach are not as frequent as we would like. But, we do have a large lake called Lake Lanier nearby so that will have to work for us. One of the activities we tried on the lake last summer was stand-up paddle boarding. We went and rented a couple of them at the lake and spent some time just cruising around some of the more calm parts of the lake in order to get used to the boards. Even though we went paddle boarding 3 times, I would still consider us both as beginners. We had been discussing going to do more paddle boarding this upcoming summer and both of us are highly in favor of doing that. We both decided that instead of renting paddle boards, we would look into getting our own for this year, as it seems like it will be something we will want to continue doing. While looking online to see which paddle boards would be best I found this one from Supeimco which I took an immediate liking to. First, it is an inflatable board. Inflatables are for beginners, those who are new to paddle boarding. This paddleboard set comes with a pump, and the recommended inflation level is between 12 and 15 PSI. Next, the length is 126 inches, and the width is 33 inches. In my research I had found that beginner boards are more than 30 inches wide so this was another feature I liked. The wider the board, the easier it is to maintain balance. These two factors alone were enough for me to buy this board. But there was so much more than that included with this comprehensive paddle boarding kit. Not only is this amazing beginner paddle board included, but there are so many accessories included too 1. An adjustable length paddle – the paddle is essentially your motor or propeller 2. 3 detachable fins – the fins help maneuverability and keeping you stay upright 3. A safety foot rope so you can stay connected to your board if you fall off 4. A waterproof cell phone pouch to keep your with you in case of emergency 5. A repair kit to fix any minor issues with the board 6. A hand pump to be able to inflate the board 7. A storage backpack – when not in use, deflate the board, roll it up, and it will fit in the backpack 8. A user manual & instructions This is a complete kit and has everything needed if starting this activity out from scratch. At only $170 it is a superb value for a beginner. I feel like I will be getting hundreds if not thousands of hours of enjoyment out of this board. This board can accommodate up to 450 pounds of weight, so technically you can have paddle board with your wife or friend with you on the same board. Just to reiterate, this is a beginner board. It is not built for speed or for any sort of racing or competition. But, it will help you develop a love for this activity and get you to the point where you feel comfortable atop a paddle board. If you ever wish to upgrade your experience to be faster or competition level, you will have gotten the basics from using this Supeimco paddle boarding kit. I am definitely satisfied with this purchase and would recommend it to everyone who wants to try paddle boarding with minimal financial risk. Unfortunately, because the water in my area is still too cold, I'm not going to be able to test this board before I release this review. So, I'm trying to learn more about the "sport" before I hit the water. This board is inflatable as opposed to being solid. Consensus has it that solid boards are easier to control but after inflating this one, I'm not sure why this would be the case. Inflated, this Supeimco brand was impressively rigid, and it comes with three removable fins to help with cornering. Stepping onto it while on the floor, is like walking on a normal floor covered with a thin layer of memory foam. It's only six inches thick but is quoted to have a capacity of 430lbs. The biggest advantage to buying an inflatable board is that it can be deflated. Unless you live at the beach/lake and can store it like a surfboard, inflatable is a good way to go. It also has a plastic tool to remove the inflator valve. This makes deflating quick and easy. One thing to note: I made the mistake of completely removing the inflator plug. This made it deflate untouched, almost completely. Unfortunately, when I tried to put the plug back in, it was a no go. Turns out there is a separate piece inside the board that the valve screws into, and somehow it had flipped over. It took a bit of wrangling, but I got it flipped and screwed back in by holding it in place from the outside. Just don't remove the air fill plug, only loosen it. The board has a handle centered to make it easy to carry and it is. At 10.5 feet long it's plenty big enough for two adults or two kids and a dog. The board comes with everything you need including a high volume, hand air pump. It took me about five minutes to fully inflate it. (Compared to a bicycle tire pump, this one is so big it looks like a clown pump. Its big and moves a lot of air.) Another convenient feature is the built-in bungee cord storage area. Perfect for carrying a cooler or camping gear. It also comes with an adjustable length paddle, a safety leash that clips to a D-Ring so you don't get separated from it in the waves. There is also a storage back-pack for easy transport, a repair kit and a water-resistant user manual. I looked around a bit and found these inflatable paddle boards range in price from about $150 to $1250. Considering the quality, features and cost of this Supeimco model I'd say it has to be a bargain.
