For some reason i thought it would be a lot less ribbon.. this is a lot of ribbon! I like the look of it, its velvety soft with an “outline” on the sides of the velvet (I don’t know how to explain it otherwise but I like the look of the ribbon). It’s a good thickness too.. maybe 1/16”. I’m excited to use this for Christmas wrapping and decorating and making Xmas bows etc. This is well worth the purchase. You will get far more ribbon than you would at any craft store.

I like having multiple sizes of velvet ribbon rolls on hand for home decorating and/or gift wraps. While this particular roll of the 1" wide is on the thinner side of velvet type ribbons I've handled, it will also lend itself to more flexible applications and make it easier to tie off pretty bows that lay more softly. I did notice, however, that it unravels profusely if you don't angle cut the ends ... I will also apply small bits of Fray Check to the ends each time it is cut to prevent the fraying. Once a thread starts pulling, it is a continuous length and you could potentially lose a lot of "velvet" if left unchecked. Great value for this amount of yardage in a wide velvet ribbon! Just keep in mind it may not be what you expect if you are used to buying yardages from a sewing shop.

I ordered this in red, and it's a lovely, bright festive red. I trimmed one edge to check for fraying, and there was none. I'm a seamstress and using quality trims is important to me --if the trim doesn't last, your whole project will end up looking ratty. While I prefer cotton or silk velvet ribbons, they are crazy expensive if you can find them. This polyester ribbon is an excellent substitute. It will add a luxurious touch to crafts, garments, and gifts. Thirty cents a yard for ribbon of this quality is a steal. I am eyeing both the blue and copper colors, as a good ribbon is hard to find.

I ordered this ribbon for the color as well as the texture, and I am more than pleased. You can't see in the picture, but the brown is a rich, chocolate brown with reddish undertones. Really gorgeous. The feel of the ribbon is soft and easy to tie. It does not appear prone to wrinkling. (I love to reuse ribbon so this is important to me.) For the price, I think the amount of ribbon you get is a great deal. THis ribbon would look great on many wrapping papers, including craft brown or white. It would be nice with a sprig of rosemary or a dried flower.
