I used this kit to hang curtains on my screened in porch, and it did the job really well. The vinyl‑coated stainless steel cable looked clean against the frame, the included turnbuckles and thimbles made setup easy, and the whole 200 ft roll means I’ve got plenty left for future projects. Everything feels sturdy and weather-resistant thanks to the 304 stainless build, and the variety of accessories was a nice bonus—no mid-project runs to Home Depot required. Why it's 4 stars and not 5: It’s great for light decorative jobs, but not intended for heavy-load or structural use. Still, absolutely solid for what I needed. Great kit overall—plenty of cable, good hardware selection, and it makes my porch look a little fancier.

I wish I had started with this cable/wire setup from the beginning. After trying several pre-made 12-foot “ready” cables and having to double, triple, and stretch them to make my sun shades work, this method is so much better and more customizable. I have several sun shades to hang, and my posts are not spaced perfectly to match the shade sizes, so being able to cut each cable to the exact length I need has made a huge difference. After four shades, this has been the most reliable and effective setup I’ve used. The cable and connectors feel much stronger than the pre-made cables I purchased, and I expect this to last much longer. I’m using these for outdoor triangle sun shades, and they give me a much cleaner, more secure fit. I also like that I can adjust the length for each side instead of trying to force a pre-made cable to work where it really doesn’t. That saves time, frustration, and a lot of trial and error. To get everything really tight, I used ratchet straps \(the cranking tie\-downs I keep in my truck\). I hooked one end to the anchor point and the other to a carabiner-style clip attached to the cable, then cranked it down to get the exact tension I needed. This made it easy to remove all slack and get a tight, clean shade. Even in high winds, everything has held up great. This is a great option for anyone taking on a sun shade project, especially if you have multiple shades or posts that are not perfectly spaced. I had to stop in the middle of my project just to write this because I was so impressed. I hope this helps someone else save time and skip the frustration of trying to make pre-made cables work.

After watching a few tutorials on working with wire rope and the included pieces, I felt like a professional using all the fasteners and connectors to hang up our string lights. This kit came with so many options to make sure the job is done right! I thought I needed a special tool to cut the rope and clamp the little sleeves, but some sharp wire cutters and pliers were just fine. It's been about 2 weeks and we get lots of rain and wind, but these are still holding up our lights and feel very secure. I wanted to do this project on my own, but for our yard I needed the lights to be as high as I could get them and the wire rope does make them heavier so be careful and safe! I'm short so even on a tall ladder, I couldn't get them high enough with all the added weight. Had to get my husband to do the heavy lifting while I threaded, looped and added the hooks, clamps, small pieces. Team work makes the dream work! 💪🏼

For light duty multipurpose use, this is a pretty good kit. I used it to put up some string lights and it was easy to manage and tighten with the turnbuckles and rings. They're not particularly heavy duty so wouldn't count on it alone. The attachments rely heavily on the vinyl coating to hold things in place, but I do not anticipate the kit having any problem keeping something like string lights up. I would be a little wary of using it for something that'll have a lot of force like a solar sail though.
