The thick O rings and removable barbed fitting was convenient. I like to be able to easily remove and clean this valve between brews and these removable pieces will make it easier. I have a drilled kettle with female threads. I didn’t use the backing nut but did use the O ring. Seems like it will hold well under a boil. The barbed fitting is 1/2 inch inner diameter which was larger than I was expecting but should make for easy transfer. The locking ring is a nice touch as well. Prevents accidental bumps and moving of the ball valve. Most stainless steel ball valves can be 25-30. This was very affordable for the quality. Also comes with a roll of teflon tape which helps not make another trip to the hardware store. ... show more

This valve is great for brewing. I am using this with a 10 gallon water cooler which will be my mash tun. It's weldless so it works perfectly with the water cooler, and if I decide to upgrade in the future I can take it off and use it on other equipment. I would recommend buying a bazooka tube filter to make sure nothing gets stuck inside the valve. The handle has a simple locking mechanism to make sure the valve doesn't accidentally get opened or closed. The ball valve design lets you precisely control the flow. The 1/2" npt also fits my brewers best brew kettle perfectly if I decided to use it with that. The out spout can be unscrewed and you can remove the barb to hook up a hose if you wanted. This valve feels very durable and I think it will be perfect for my needs. Overall, i am very happy with this valve and I will order more if needed. Cheers! ... show more
