I'm a home brewer and also make wine and cider, and I've found that cleaning out carboys can be very difficult with just hot water and soap. A friend told me about PBW and it's been fantastic for cleaning. I was going to reorder, but decided to give this new product a try. Unlike PBW, I couldn't find the SDS (safety data sheet) online, but I sent a message through their website requesting it and they responded the next day. I've attached the ingredients list from the SDS. It's sodium carbonate (baking soda), sodium percarbonate (basically hydrogen peroxide in solid form), and 2-Hydroxypropane-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid (citric acid). The ingredients are not exactly the same as PBW, but it has the same main ingredients, and from my testing, I've found it to be about as effective as PBW for cleaning. The other aspect that interested me was that this also can be used a no-rinse sanitizer like starsan. In this case, the active ingredients are quite different, but both citric acid and hydrogen perfoxide are effective sanitizing agents, so I do believe that this product will work well as a sanitizer. The only negative is the cost. When I compared prices, this product is 50% more expensive than the same size package of PBW. It's roughly the same price per volume as starsan, but starsan is typically diluted a lot more, so the same size package makes a lot more sanitizing liquid. ... show more

    • Effective build up cleaner
Tried this on my a few kettles, worked great with minimal scrubbing needed, not that i could a brush into some of them anyways. It dissolved well, removed buildup, and left everything looking cleanish. Not a 100 percent clean but there was a good amount of calcium build up, and i did not apply any pressure or scrubbing to the detergent like it says to do in the manual.     • Effective Peroxide Sanitizer
What a fantastic price for a pound of peroxide sanitizer--and it's even made in the US. This type of sanitizer is absolutely essential for those who brew beer, wine, mead, kombucha, water kefir or ferment yogurt etc. It's harmless because it's just peroxide and doesn't even need to be rinsed, though keep in mind that it is a little alkaline so keep your eyes covered and wash it off if it gets on skin.     • Great for keeping my brews clean
I use this to clean my 750ml pressurized bottles clean for making ginger beer. I also keep the sanitizing liquid inside the airlock to prevent stuff from growing in there. love that this is a no rinse product so I know I'm not introducing anything bad attempting to rinse my bottles. I use about a teaspoon to clean each 750ml bottle since the instructions recommend 1 tablespoon per gallon, so a little goes a long way.     • A one step solution in more ways than one!

This is a no-rinse, one step cleaning solution mix primarily marketed towards homebrewers. There are many products that exist in the market for sterilization. But not many are specialized for sanitizing containers for the sake of fermentation. You'd want something that is obviously neutral not only in terms of odor or taste, but also in pH. This, so as to avoid the possibility of undesired chemical reactions that may potentially ruin the user's entire batch. That's not fun. And products like this facilitate this process to a tee with ease so thumbs up there. To use, simply mix a tablespoon's worth into each gallon of water to be treated. For a more thorough cleaning, pour two tablespoons per gallon to be treated and leave it to soak for at least half an hour. At the end of the day, it works and it works quite well. That said, I did deduct a point as nowhere in the package does it disclose its ingredients. I'd just like to know what it is that I'm working with here. 4 out of 5 stars. ... show more
