  • Now this is a router bit!
Size: 1/2"x1-1/2" Color: 1/2" Shank
Hand router application. Large area, want a smoother finish. I tried a 3 blade spoilboard surfacing bit knowing I was only cutting off the top a bit at the time. It was a waste of time and money and I quickly went back to a smaller, deeper, straight shaft. The cutting surfaces are sharp, clean and no nicks. Unlike a straight shaft bit, this looks like it will address the mill shavings better as opposed to leaving a trail of bound up shavings in a cut path. A major concern that I do have, the cut blades are separate from the body of the bit. I will definitely be keeping an eye on them. It is also very rare that Chinese steel holds a candle to US or Europe's machine steel. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose and it will take me awhile to give that answer. UPDATE: I am upgrading from 4 to 5 stars. After routering out about 4 square feet to 5/8 depth of kiln dried red oak, the bit looks and works exactly like it did after it's first pass. A Bosch can't hold a candle to these. ... show more

  • Great Cutter, just take care
Size: 1/4"x1" Color: 1/4" Shank
This is a very well built tool, perfect for flattening boards and probably the widest bit for a 14 in arbir. This said, be careful with the bit. The large size if the cutter will create a considerable amount of torque, enough to bend the shank if it is extended to much. I did just that, not the fault of the manufacturer, all mine. My jig slipped, the cutter dug in and the shank bent. Well that said, I like it so much I already ordered a new one, I'll be much more careful with the replacement.. ... show more

  • Sharp
Size: 1/4"x1" Color: 1/4" Shank
This is available in 1/4 and 1/2”shafts I ordered the 1/4” as that fits both my routers. So far I like everything about this bit. Very sharp from the factory (how long it will stay sharp only time will tell). Worked great on soft wood, haven’t tried it on hardwood so can’t comment on that. I need it to flatten a work bench top other than that it will only see occasional use so should last me years and years. If I were flatting hardwood slabs I probably would use a 1/2” set up. 2 day shipping, good price works for me. If it dulls quickly or breaks will amend my review accordingly. Aloha ... show more

  • Works for composite decking
Size: 1/2"x2" Color: 1/2" Shank
I needed a bit to thin some Trex composite decking so it would fit over some steel flashing along the outside wall of our home. I needed to 'shave' about 3/4" of the 1" board thickness for this application, and this bit did it in a snap. Coupled with a Dewalt router, I made three passes routing out 1/4" with each pass over a width of 1.5 inches. Be prepared to collect a whole lot of composite shavings, but this bit did the trick. Can't speak to the longevity yet, but routered out a 12' board without a problem. Just go slow and steady to avoid bogging down the bit. ... show more

  • Out perform $70 bit and Cut machine time by 75%
Running on 5 hp CNC and this one runs circle around our old bits. Made a mistake first time using it and plunged all the way through 3/4 MDF at my regular cutout speed and it did not hesitate, dust collector could not keep up. Amazing plunge performance unlike our old bits this has no issues at all. I have been able to skip a 2 step plunge cut and doubled my cut speed without sacrificing quality. Running at 20,000 rpm at 5 inches a second, 3/8" deep on MDF and HDM with a good chip load. Crisp clean edges and clean bottom cuts. About 8 hours run time on this bit and still running clean. I now have 2 more on the shelf as backups. Better final product and 75% less machine time. Winner in my book. Thanks for a great product! ... show more

  • Good for router sled ops
Size: 1/4"x1" Color: 1/4" Shank
I bought this item for leveling out some rough-cut boards of oak and pine. It works great for that purpose. but you’re still going to need to run it through a planer if you want a nice finish. There is a little bit of tear out that happens no matter how gentle you try to be. I’ve put probably 8 hours of cutting time on this bit and it still seems to be working well - not too dull yet. My only gripe is that I wish I could have gotten one a little bit wider - but I only have a 1/4-inch collet in my router so I’m limited there. ... show more

  • Great for planing
Size: 1/2"x2" Color: 1/2" Shank
I was able to flatten a glued up board that was too wide for my jointer before sending through my planer. The result was great. The bit was sharp and I had no tearout or flaws in what I used it for. The shear size of this thing was pretty intimidating to let spin at high speeds, but it worked out well. Do wish the shank was just a little longer as it seemed shorter than a normal router bit. ... show more

  • Sharp and clean.
Size: 1/4"x1" Color: 1/4" Shank
Bit cuts very good and very clean. While the shank is probably as long as it should be, for a 1/4” shank, the cutter head itself could be a little longer, like 1.5”, so as to provide the ability to route through a 2x6, which is what I used it for. Price is not bad, considering the product isn’t even offered at our local homedepot. ... show more
