  • A Fresh Take on James Bond and a Lot of Fun
Platform: PlayStation 5 Edition: Specialist Edition
As a longtime James Bond fan, I was really looking forward to 007 First Light, and it delivered an entertaining mix of action, stealth, and spy-themed gameplay. The game does a great job capturing the feeling of being a secret agent, whether you're gathering intel, sneaking through restricted areas, or getting into intense action sequences. The visuals are impressive, with detailed environments and cinematic presentation that make the story feel like you're playing through a Bond movie. I especially enjoyed the variety in the missions. Not every objective is solved the same way, which helps keep the gameplay fresh. There’s a good balance between action and strategy, and the gadgets add another layer of fun. The story kept me engaged throughout, and the overall atmosphere feels true to the Bond franchise while still bringing some new ideas to the table. Overall, this is an enjoyable game for both James Bond fans and anyone who likes action-adventure titles. Definitely worth adding to your collection. ... show more

  • WARNING: NOT UNCHARTED
Platform: PlayStation 5 Edition: Specialist Edition
Before you buy know what you're getting into. 007 First Light is not exactly like Uncharted. The most it takes from Uncharted is the combat but it expands beyond what Uncharted does. First Light instead is a stealth based game with action/adventure elements. If you are not into stealth you will not enjoy this game. I have loved stealth games since the original Splinter Cell series and before that Metal Gear Solid. The game allows you to take on missions how you want with only minimal barriers to guide you in the right direction. It does not hold your hand so if you need to constantly be told how to navigate and where to go you won't enjoy this game. The voice acting and sound design are fantastic. You start the game crash landing in Iceland only to then be given an opportunity to train as a 00 Operative. The training does a great job of guiding you in what to expect throughout the game. I honestly wish there was a demo for the game because I imagine any negative reviews are coming from people who expected Uncharted and instead they got something in the middle between Uncharted and Hitman. I'm absolutely loving the game and it is definitely up there for my game of the year. ... show more

  • Surprisingly good game
Platform: PlayStation 5 Edition: Specialist Edition
The game was well put together, graphics wise it was good, story wise it was fairly good as well between both the writing and the pacing. The impressive part was their ability to bring James Bond into our current times and still make him feel like the 007 everyone either knows or at least heard of. Ultimately, I think it's a pretty solid game and if you're into hitman or uncharted style games, this one is definitely one for you to pick up. ... show more

  • Worth it
Platform: PlayStation 5 Edition: Specialist Edition
I enjoyed the game very much, with the graphics being excellent and the story/writing/character development far better than many modern games. Definitely a high-quality adventure, at times sneaking around using gadgets and taking out enemies I really felt like a super spy. Very funny and clever dialogue and spoken lines from Bond and Co. Has some good replay value as missions can be approached/objectives accomplished in multiple ways, and IO Interactive has announced they will be rolling out additional content moving forward! ... show more

  • 007 First Light- Earn the number 007 First Light- Earn the number
Platform: PlayStation 5 Edition: Specialist Edition
007 First Light – Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ IO Interactive finally delivered a James Bond game that actually feels like being Bond. 007 First Light takes the stealth freedom they’re known for and mixes it with cinematic action, gadgets, globe-trotting missions, and a younger version of 007 that feels fresh without losing the classic vibe. The biggest strength is how missions let you choose your approach — sneak, improvise, fight, or play it smooth. The game feels inspired by spy movies while still standing on its own instead of becoming just “Hitman with Bond.” Visually it looks great and the set pieces are huge, but it’s not perfect. Some players thought the pacing slowed in parts, driving sections could’ve been deeper, and a few moments feel more scripted than expected. Overall, 007 First Light feels like one of the strongest Bond games ever made and a really solid modern spy adventure. If you like stealth, action, and cinematic single-player games, this one is worth playing. ... show more

  • 007 First Light is Incredible! 007 First Light is Incredible!
Platform: PlayStation 5 Edition: Specialist Edition
This is my first Bond game, and it’s incredible. IOI nailed the combat, stealth, gadgets, mission design, story, music, graphics, and overall gameplay variety, and I loved how many different ways there are to approach objectives. Patrick Gibson was also an awesome James Bond. My main issues were the occasional bugs, performance hiccups, long load times, some underwhelming villains and boss fights, and Bond’s slow jogging speed. Even with those flaws, this is an incredibly fun and polished experience with deep gameplay mechanics, a great cast, and tons of replay value. Easily one of my favorite games of the year. 9/10. ... show more

  • Wonderful Story experience
Platform: PlayStation 5 Edition: Specialist Edition
This was a fantastic James Bond experience that harkens back to Golden Eye. The writing is on point. It has a good balance of charming tropes without overdoing it. The combat is wonderfully fluid. Honestly the gameplay has some elements that don't quite work at times. There are definite awkward compromises between stealth, action and bond charm but on the whole this is more than the sum of its parts and is a great narrative experience. ... show more

  • I couldn’t just do nothing…
Platform: PlayStation 5 Edition: Specialist Edition
I’ll confess - when I learned that Amazon Studios had acquired the rights to the James Bond franchise, my fist thought was “ahhhh, c***. Get ready for pure trash (I mean, who can forget their mangling of Tom Clancy’s “Without Remorse?”) I am happy to say I could not have been more wrong. Patrick Gibson is an inspired choice to voice the new, younger version of Bond - he conveys a deft balance of smarm, charm, growl, and wisdom. The story in 007: First Light has all the same inexcusable nonsense you’d get from any video game, but I found myself hoping for more implausible non-sequiturs just to keep the action going. The dialogue is snappy, the acting is better than anything on Netflix right now, the backgrounds are remarkably well done, and the gameplay, while limiting, is still a lot of fun (any game where the weapons go flying when you headshot someone deserves a thumbs-up). My son and I both agree this is the best Bond since Skyfall, and I can’t wait for the add-ons and the next edition. Well done all around! ... show more
