This thing sucks. It only works if the light is on which is an annoying feature on its own (I live in Alaska, it’s not just when the sun is down that my windows are frosted), it arrived very obviously having been a return from someone else, it doesn’t really scrape at all, it takes FOREVER to heat up, and because of the design it doesn’t even actually melt anything. It’s just a huge waste of money.

I still don’t know which side I’m supposed to scrape with because it doesn’t really work either way. The heater works well, in that it’s a warmer so it will slowly loosen any ice. Not NEARLY as great as my regular basic winter scraper, but I can see how it’s handy to have light heat to help loosen the layers of ice that can build up in a Minnesota winter storm.

My son bought this for me as a Christmas gift. The designed-in problems are in the name of safety, so I understand that. It doesn't charge, it has to be plugged in to work. the cord is long enough to do the job, and the car has to be running in order for the thing to work. So those are things that, while inconvenient, I understand. You wouldn't want it draining your car battery when the car is not in use, and you wouldn't want it to be accidentally on when you park the car and walk away. Got it. The two features that are truly bothersome are 1) if you extend the handle, you can't lay the scrapping surface down all the way on the windshield because the handle is banana-shaped. 2) Perhaps I should have mentioned this first, but it doesn't actually generate enough heat to do the job, so basically, it doesn't work.

In all fairness, I am rating this low just because I have not had an opportunity to try it out yet. It just arrived, and I had some difficulty trying to figure out what to do next. When I opened the box there were no instructions, and then when I unraveled the wire, which does not show in the picture, I could not figure out what the wire was attached to. When I finally did realize that one of the buttons on the top of the unit was a push to slide the handle open and this is where the car charger piece and end of the wire is, I almost broke my nail. If we do get an icy day, I may try it. But this is not to say that someone out there shouldn’t try it for themselves.
