Very nice little saw for modeling!

  • Blade Guides Are Very Narrow, Significant Plastic Shavings
The concept of this item is great, but the manufacture could be better. The hand saw is nicely sharp and easy to hold. The miter box on the other hand could use some significant improvement. The blade guides barely accommodate the blade so you fight against carving the plastic while trying to cut the wood item. Because of the resistance, it becomes hard to hold the wood item and cut a straight line. Until the cut line is deep enough in the wood, it is very frustrating to use. You need to hold the miter box tightly against the table to resist the plastic, which tires your hand. The adjustable stop is very limited and did not accommodate the small 1/8" thick, long, narrow pieces I was cutting. I imagine if you use the item long enough and carve the plastic guides wide enough, the cutting experience could improve, but that will take time and will speed the dulling of the saw blade. The concept is great, it is unfortunate the manufacture design is substandard. ... show more

I had to hold things in place

  • It works for a small need
It works for some tiny projects fine. However the plastic miterbox with cut guides are too thin to move your blade back and forth. It took quite some maneuvering to cut a small dowel until I had worn the guide in enough to move blade knife back and forth easily. At that it didn't cut well but accurate enough that a bit of sanding could correct. It's not a top dollar tool so my expectations were not high and it got the jobs done so......I'm okay with it. ... show more

  • It does the job
I needed to cut several pieces of polystyrene trim moulding. This saw did a great job.

  • Not so Great!!
The miniature Saw works OK, but I think you could buy any Saw to work this way, but the box is so shallow that the wood Has to be flat like a paint stick if you have anything thicker than a paint stick you might as well use the large one. The mini saw is fine which is why I decided to keep it, but the miter box with it is really rather useless. It should be deeper to be more effective and worth the money. ... show more

  • Saw teeth bind on the push
The teeth of the saw are pull-type, which enables the blade to be so thin. The problem with these teeth is that they lack sufficient rocker to allow the blade to be returned back forward smoothly from a cutting pull stroke. The teeth need to be curved rearward more to allow the saw to slide through the material on the return stroke more easily. I found myself having to lift the saw out of the groove and reposition it again for another pull rather than push hard. Pushing hard can cause the blade to jump out of the slot and mar it. This will eventually gnarl the top of the grooves due to excessive insertions of the blade. Otherwise, the slots are very tight against the blade and afford good precision in cutting. ... show more

  • Convenient Small Saw
A very convenient small saw to cut wood that I use for craft work, and it stores easily in the package it arrived in.
