  • Our go-to
Size: Pack of 2 Product Packaging: Retail
Our personal favorite, and we try to keep a liter can on hand all the time. The 2-1 liter pack is convenient and ships well. Good for cooking and raw consumption (dipping, dressings). Sweet and delicious, and as far as cost not too bad, especially given the quality. Probably buying it for 7-8 years or more and never let us down. ... show more

  • Really Good OO, But Use Caution!
Size: 33.8 Fl Oz (Pack of 2) Product Packaging: Frustration-Free Packaging
We've been using this olive oil for the last 2 or 3 years, and we like it very much - it's really quite good stuff. We are also fans of using Amazon for many of our purchases, primarily because of their effort toward transparency and objectivity - they tend not to hide facts about products or to play games as many other retailers do - but shoppers still have to be careful. Take this delicious and reasonably priced oil, for instance. We had been getting our Zoe OO via Amazon's 'Subscribe and Save' program, which can be very convenient, and often works out as the best price, overall, one can find on a regularly used item - but as will happen in this world, we noticed the price creeping up, and so we began looking for possible alternatives - and upon doing so, we discovered that Zoe (and Amazon) were offering several different sized containers of their OO on Amazon - and interestingly, the larger container, 1 liter(33+ oz) was priced lower(22.56) than was the smaller container, 25+ oz(25.27) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0060JMVM0/ref=rcxsubs_mys2_product_title, and even more interesting was the fact that the smaller, and more expensive, container was the only one available through the Subscribe and Save program - Hummm. As you'll notice above, this container of Zoe OO does not offer a Subscribe and Save option, but if you search Amazon for Zoe OO, you'll discover some which do. This is simply to say that as always, the buyer should be as aware as possible before buying - and frankly, I still think that effort is as easy to accomplish on Amazon as on any other website - and I believe we shoppers owe Amazon a debt of gratitude for the phenomenon of Free Shipping, for had they not introduced, nurtured, and matured this policy, we all may still be paying big bucks for shipping internet purchases. So, thank you Amazon for setting a good model for all internet retailers, and thank you Zoe for making available such a good OO at such a nice price - and thank you both for creating an environment where shoppers can exercise a cautious and objective search for the best options before they buy. ... show more

  • Good replacement for olive oil snobs
Size: 33.8 Fl Oz (Pack of 2) Product Packaging: Frustration-Free Packaging
So I'm an olive oil snob. Not very snobby about much else, but am with olive oil. There's a good reason. If you research olive oil, you realize that most olive oils sold in stores are rancid because of how they're stored. And they lose their EVOO potency. So I chose to be choosy. I use olive oil on everything and even as a "hand and face lotion." Seriously good that way. I've long been a California Olive Oil fan (best of the best), but sometimes supply is hard to find on Amazon. Plus it is expensive. Plus due to their growth, they're now sourcing oils outside of the States and calling it something else, so you need to watch what you buy. I found Zoe. Have to say, it's a keeper. Can't say I can taste a difference. And we go thru 3-4 cans per month, so we're enjoying the cost savings. If you've never done a side-by-side olive oil taste test, try it. There is a big difference! ... show more

  • Excellent Olive Oil at An Outstanding Price...
Size: Pack of 2 Product Packaging: Retail
As someone who bakes breads almost every other day, I use a lot of olive oil during baking and when eating the finished product. I saw the Zoe Extra Virgin Olive Oil as a Gold Box special, read the reviews, and decided to give it a try. The oil arrived promptly, was well packaged, and there was no damage to the tins. This olive oil has a nice golden color, a lush mouth-feel, and a pleasant peppery after-bite. The olive flavor is distinct, but not over powering - something that makes it nice for individuals who prefer a milder taste. In my opinion, the actual taste was a bit nutty - but taste is subjective and very individual, so you must judge that aspect of this oil yourself. When using this oil as a part of my Italian Butter, I did cut the ground black pepper componant so that the other ingredients were not overwhelmed by the pepper taste. That recipe takes 12 ounces of oil, pepper to taste (usually 6 turns of the grinder), ground sea salt (6 turns), 2 garlic cloves grated on a zester or crushed, Mince 1 1 /2 teaspoons each of fresh oregno, fresh rosemary, and of fresh sweet basil. Add all to the oil and allow to steep for several days before using. Unlike better oils, Zoe Extra Virgin Olive Oil does not give a harvest date or a specific location from which the olives originated. If you are an olive oil afficianado, this is something that may concern you. However, if you are looking for an excellent olive oil, at an outstanding price you should give Zoe a try. I found this to be equal to Costco's Kirkland Extra Virgin Olive Oil in the 1 liter bottle. ... show more

  • Excellent but I wouldn't call it the greatest
Size: Pack of 2 Product Packaging: Retail
Today, making bread, I caught a whiff of the fruity aroma of this oil. It's a nice olive oil, clear, light, very good to excellent quality. But I'm sorry to say it isn't a five star olive oil from my vantage point. I am looking for a more distinctly flavored oil. I haven't found that flavor lately. Olive oil used to have a much stronger olive flavor. It wasn't rancid or imbalanced or a lesser quality. There were oils, usually Spanish olive oil with a more distinctly olive taste. Goya made a wonderful olive oil. So did Pope. Today most quality olive oils like Zoe offer a fresh, pleasant flavor. But there's something missing and I'd say Zoe suffers from this as well- a strong olive flavor is eschewed in favor of a more neutral and less obtrusive one. But this is not what I'm looking for in extra virgin olive oil or any olive oil. What I want is a distinctly olive flavor. So that accounts for my four stars instead of five. Zoe has a very mild olive flavor, it's fresh and fruity. But it's not very olive-y. So frankly if I'm going to pay for first press, I'm looking for a very distinct olive flavor. This one, like most olive oils today is rather bland. The search is still on. If anyone would recommend an oil for me to try, and trust me I've tried all the store available brands, I would be most grateful. Being Spanish, I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for a very distinct olive flavor for my cooking. ... show more

Zoe is one of my favorites. I like the flavor of Spanish olive oils and Zoe does not disappoint. To me they have a citrus-y zing and a little bit of a pepper bite. I could (and sometimes do, shhh) drink it. I like that it’s organic and that the company is eco conscious as well. Win win! This a great price btw. ... show more

  • Love the Olive Oil; Hate the Cans
Size: 33.8 Fl Oz (Pack of 2) Product Packaging: Frustration-Free Packaging
Olive oil has great taste and value. I didn't want to spend all day looking for the perfect olive oil; this one had good reviews and a good price per liter as compared to grocery store varieties. I use olive oil for everything (as opposed to any other types of oil), so Zoe's is a good compromise on quality and value for a large amount - good bang for the buck. My biggest (really only) complaint are the annoying tin cans. Every pour from the can results in wasted oil coming down the side of the can or resting on the top of the can. I feel like any money I saved buying this oil is being poured down the side of the can. Plus, I get to clean it up, every single time. That annoyance alone is not worth any saved money. Bottom line: I do like the taste; I do enjoy cooking with it; I hate the cans. I would consider buying this oil again in a different container type if the price was still right. EDIT: I have seen the comments on how to open it properly and have gone back to buying and using the is olive oil, as well as transferring it to a spouted glass bottle (works much better). Thanks for the comments. Still annoyed that they don't print directions anywhere on the can for use of the spout. It is so easy once you know, but how are you supposed to just automatically know!? ... show more
