  • A great kit and makes a great Bass guitar
Style: Bass Guitar Color: log color-11
I bought kit with the thought in mind of just seeing if I could make a decent bass from. The bass made from this kit is really good, it's not to hard to do. The hardest part is getting a good looking paint or finish job. The neck is awesome super beefy, o would say old school fender like. The pickup sounds good it's strong and gives good tone. My advice for good results Like i mentioned painting is hardest - Sand really good then sand again one more time the smoother the better. Let the paint dry for 2 to 3 days. I made mistake of trying to put hardware on day after I painted and I ended up with finger prints cause paint was still soft. It was dry touch, but putting any kind of pressure caused indentations in paint. I painted 3 times. First time I didn't like color and orange peel city. Second time - didn't let dry long enough and pressure marks ruined. Third time came out good so I guess 3rd time is charm. Bottom line is you can get a great bass out of this kit. A little patience and a couple how to videos will help tremendously. Just a couple notes I finished neck with boiled linseed oil. I bought a 13 dollar set of black fender style tuners and a black bridge. I have played bass for 20 plus years, have built basses for a couple hours this kit being my only experience and I will definitely play this bass at live shows. So easy a bass player can do it !!!!!! ... show more

  • If you are looking for an exact Gibson Eb3 copy this might not be for you.
Style: Bass Guitar Color: log color-3
This kit comes with no instructions of any kind . It was not a problem for me but may be if you are new to building these . The bass is an EB3 style but lacks the pickup selector of the original . Setting the neck angle on these can be very tricky and getting low action and intonation setup was very difficult . I was forced to file into the bridge in order to lower the action to a standard P Bass style setup . The Body and neck are very nice but very soft wood for the body and very thin Veneer . ... show more

  • Kit was of good quality, red Glitter enamel paint, wet sanded and polished.
Style: Bass Guitar Color: log color-12
The kit was a good quality. The pain is a red glittery enamel, clear coated, wet, sanded, and polished for a nice shiny even finish. All electronics were good. Worked well went together easily would definitely build another one.

  • Great product for the price
Style: Bass Guitar Color: log color-11
Was super fun building this bass with my Son. Went together great and sounds surprisingly good. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is lack of instructions, and the strings are definitely junk (but easy inexpensive to buy quality strings.)

  • Great bass kit

Very good bass guitar kit, easy to build but would be nice if it had instructions for those that are not very handy with tools.

  • Everything Fit
Style: Bass Guitar Color: log color-11
Cons right upfront. I can see how no instructions are an issue for a first time builder. Being around the instrument and making mods for years most things fell in line pretty easy. I did have to touch up some of the factory solder job, the wiring colors were fascinating (mine had blue for hit and a red one on ground). I'm impressed by the prefab though. All holes lined up with no issues, the neck pocket was tight. the neck itself is in good shape, no jagged frets or anything. I would recommend, sanding it more than you'd think you'd need to (I didn't do enough and my stain didn't want to really get through) spray primer and paint worked out great though. ... show more

  • No instructions

I would have given it three stars but it came with absolutely zero instructions so I had to figure out how to wire the pickup and output jack

  • There are better kit options available for less money UPDATED 3/31
Style: Bass Guitar Color: log color-12
UPDATE : The company saw my review and offered either a refund or replacement kit. I asked for another kit, but then they said they could only offer a refund. However, they did promptly refund me. Due to that, I have added a star back on for customer service, as this was unexpected., and a good gesture on their part. ORIGINAL REVIEW I got this kit because it offered a P style and Humbucker pickup combo, which I thought would be fun, and those are hard to find. I have built several kits before, but this is the first time with this brand. The body is pretty standard basswood cut, though the pickup cavity routing was a little rough. The neck shape is pretty chunky, like a baseball bat, a "fat C" shape. I'm going to have to sand quite a bit of it away to make it comfortable, and I have big hands. The wiring isn't too difficult. The pots are already wired together, so all you have to do is wire the pickups to the volume pots, and wire the output jack. As long as you remember the white wire is hot, and solder it to the middle lug of the volume pot, and the black wire is ground, so you wire it to the top of the volume pot, you will be all set. With that being said, I almost wish they had not done any of the wiring, as I don't care for how they linked all the controls together, as it results in some weird volume drops between the two pickups, and the tone control for the P pickup really doesn't do much of anything. Luckily, the P pickup doesn't sound bad. I'm still on the fence about the humbucker. I also haven't dialed in the pickup height, so it may sound better after I do that. I have a few more gripes that knock this kit down a couple stars for me. First is that the control knobs did not want to come off. The knobs are supposed to come off the pots with just a little effort, so that you can get at the nut to tighten or remove the pots from the pickguard (which I had to do to paint the pickguard for this build). I had to use pliers to remove all 4 of them, and on one knob the knob was on so tightly that whole shaft of the pot came out. So....crappy control knobs. Second, the screws for the tuning machines are of poor quality. I had the screw heads come off two screws while screwing in the tuners (see pic). However, the biggest gripe I have is with the notch cut into the body to access the truss rod. The truss rod in this kit is accessed through the "body side' of the neck, which is fine, but they cut the notch about a quarter inch too short, which means the allen wrench can't fit into the notch to adjust the truss rod (see pic). This isn't just a mistake on my body, as the pickguard is also cut the same way. This means that in order to adjust the truss rod without damaging the body or pickguard, you have to remove the entire neck, which is just a really poor design oversight. I ended up taking of the pickguard and jamming the allen wrench in, putting some dings in the body in order to do so, which were later covered by putting the pickguard back on. Because of these issues, I won't be buying this brand kit again. ... show more
