  • the best naps (and overall sleep) I've ever had
The media could not be loaded. It's better than blackout curtains, better than a sleep mask, and I've been feel extra rested while sleeping in this. I've been using the zDen for quite awhile now - I backed it when they were crowdfunding on Kickstarter! And it's great timing that it showed up on Amazon, since I was thinking of getting a second one. Great news - it's the same great product it's always been! Amazon shipped it out promptly after I ordered it, and it arrived in a nice big box on my porch. If you've never used one, here's a few things you should know: - You'll sleep really well. Sleeping in total darkness just feels noticably different. - It even blocks out daylight, which is amazing for afternoon naps. (I'm a dad with three kids ages 2 to 8 - I need to sleep when I can!) - It's surprisingly big and the material is soft to the touch, and generally breathes nicely. It's great that it's so big, especially cause I use a big wedge pillow to help with my snoring, and that pillow (surprisingly!) fits perfectly inside the den. It works great, even better than a sleep mask too - I love that I don't feel it on my face, there's no strap wrapped around my head and hair, and there's no way it can fall off my face. It also folds us super compact, though I mostly leave it on top of my bed. Note that some lookalike products have been showing up on Amazon, so to be fair (and cause I love a good deal) I ordered one of those too. Watch the video - I’ll show you the difference there! It may feel pricey but it’s SO WORTH IT! Seriously, your sleep (and your health and your life) is so so worth it! You likely spend at least 25% of your life sleeping - make it count! You will FEEL it! Five stars. ... show more

  • Terrific! Finally I can read in bed again.
Does what it says. It is super dark. It is easy to position and folds up quickly once you get the hang of it. I have not been able to read in bed, due to my partners SUPER light sleeping, for years. Started looking for a solution again after giving up years ago. This fits the bill. I can crawl in bed, pull the curtains and my kindle is invisible from the outside. I am interested to see how it behaves in winter. I suspect I will like the little added warmth. I have been using it for 3 months now several nights a week. It is getting a little worn in (not so firm) but still performing its task fabulously. The fabric its made out of is super soft too. I appreciate the feel of it when I touch it. Cool bonus, It give awesome pillow fort vibes. Every now and then my inner 7 year old just giggles. TLDR: It is DARK and DOES the JOB. Worth every penny to me. ... show more

  • The Solution to Light Pollution
This little tent has changed my life! I recently moved and my new studio apartment has a wall of windows. I really love the light and the views, but also know that I need total darkness to get the best sleep. Since I don't expect to be here for long, I didn't want to invest in blackout curtains. I wasn't sure how I was going to get the light reduction I needed, until I found the zDen. Even after I found it, I was a little skeptical. I was worried that I would feel weird sleeping halfway in a tent, halfway out. Let me assure you, it is not weird at all, and my eyes now experience blackout levels every night. Before using the zDen, I was constantly waking up due to the light in the room. Now, I am experiencing much more uninterrupted sleep and can get to sleep more easily. Putting my head into the zDen is so comforting somehow. I can't quite explain it, but it makes me feel very satisfied and at ease. If you are in the same situation, I would highly recommend this as a solution to light pollution. ... show more

  • Helps but takes some getting used to; price point is objectionable
During the spring and summer months, there is too much light in my bedroom at the time I need to go to bed in order to get enough sleep for my 5AM wakeup time during the work week. I wasn't keen on blackout curtains (dust magnets!) or window film (goodbye, natural light!), and sleep masks were uncomfortably disruptive. This light-blocking tent, despite its hefty price tag, intrigued me. Poor sleep quality was hindering my life, so I decided to take the plunge. The tent is made of high-quality fabric, with noise-prone areas like the floor and front flaps made from a soft, brushed material which is silent. Surprisingly roomy, it takes up about half the width of a queen-sized bed. I'm not sure how they arrived at "99% light blockage". It does block a fair amount of light, but it is not a total blackout solution. The fabric is pretty opaque, but you can see bright light through the weave of the fabric. There can be notable light leakage around the vent flaps and the cord/hose opening--and of course through the front curtains, if you don't arrange them just so. Ventilation wasn't a major issue, thanks to three mesh windows that can be lifted (though this lets in light). I've generally kept them closed for maximum darkness. I preemptively bought a small battery-powered fan to place inside to combat potential stuffiness during hotter months. While the price stings a bit, I consider this tent the best solution for getting through long summer days without resorting to blackout curtains or film. Plus, I can use it for daytime naps come fall and winter. After considering cheaper alternatives, I concluded they wouldn't be as effective so I'll be keeping this tent. ... show more
