I discovered Zagg when I chose their Santa Cruz case at the Apple store where I bought my iPhone 17 Pro Max. The quality of the Santa Cruz was impressive. Since I favor rugged cases, I upgraded to the Zagg Rainier, their most protective. The case gives OtterBox level solidity in a more compact package. Their handling of the camera bulge on the back is the smoothest and most elegant that I have seen. Zagg makes a single sheet lens protector (one pane for all three lenses) that fits perfectly with their cases. I had already purchased one for the Santa Cruz case. Highly recommended. The Rainier's two part case design, with a plastic bezel on the screen side that snaps solidly into place, is easy to install and features reassuring raised corners. No problem with the phone popping out due to a fall, or in placing this case face down on rougher surfaces. The case texture is perfect - tacky enough for a firm grip, but not overly rubbery so as to become a dirt magnet. Aesthetically, I chose the kelp green version because the inside of the bezel, and the recessed plastic strip across the top, are orange, which matches my iPhone. The greenish tint on the transparent back tones down the pinkish orange of the iPhone to an overall burnt orange, which matches the recessed plastic strip on top. I wish the back charging magnet and the stand cover were black instead of pea green, but I can't dock the case for that since it's a matter of taste. The Zagg Rainier case for the iPhone 17 Pro Max is on the pricey side, but delivers value for money. In my case, a decent year-end discount from Amazon made this purchase a no-brainer. ... show more

I bought this case after spending a LONG time researching cases for iPhone 17 max pros. My go to (otte*box defender) apparently does not hold up with the newest version so sadly I needed to find another brand. I want something that a child can throw, that can drop onto pavement preferably one that can withstand serious impact, that can withstand life with kids and a clumsy parent. After spending much too much time watching reviews on YouTube- I found this one. I’ve had this about 2 months and I am very happy with it. My phone has had extensive drops (thank you to my toddler) and it’s in excellent shape. The case has held up great and more importantly my phone is in perfect condition. I like the little stand but it’s pretty small so not too helpful. The idea is good but the stand itself doesn’t seem super sturdy. The only thing I don’t like is the case seems slippery. The edges have a good texture so you ca grab them but the whole back is clear and very slippery. I got a magnetic ring for the back for my 17 pro, so I can loop my finger in that and have a better grip. I actually bought this one for my child’s phone as well (17 pro ) and maybe because the phone is smaller, it’s not as slippery so doesn’t fall out of their hands as often as the pro max. Overall I really like this phone case and more importantly it’s protected my phone many times (and I’m sure may more drops to go!) ... show more

Case broke. Literally fell out of my pocket in between my seat and center console. Did not fall hard at all. Less than a foot drop at maximum. And the front cover broke in two places. As a Defense Contractor, You could say that I have dedicated my life to protecting what is most important. I’ve tried just about every “rugged” phone case out there, but the ZAGG Rainer Ultimate Protection Case takes it to another level. Between chasing my two kids, working outside in the garden, hunting in the field, and hauling gear in and out of the truck, my phone takes a beating. This case has already saved it more times than I can count. The grip feels secure but not bulky, the raised edges protect the screen perfectly, and the buttons have that satisfying, precise click. Despite being heavy-duty, it still slides easily into a pocket and looks sleek enough for work meetings or date night. This ZAGG Rainier case is built like a tank but still looks clean and modern. The drop protection feels very solid, I’ve already dropped my phone a few times with zero damage.
