Description

World-famous adventurer Adol Christin awakens alone in the unfamiliar land of Celceta, remembering nothing more than his own name. Eager to unravel the mystery of his past and his current predicament, Adol begins his search for clues to his identity in a nearby town. Joined by the thief, Duren, who claims to have spent some time at his side these past weeks, the young adventurer soon earns the favor of the local Romun Army general. The general tasks the duo with documenting the untamed wilderness of the Great Forest of Celceta. Though none have ever returned from this dangerous quest, Adol sets off with Duren in hopes of reclaiming his lost memories. Along the way he meets numerous other individuals who seem to have encountered him before and must carefully determine who among them can be trusted. Experience a timeless chapter in the storied RPG franchise making its debut on Nintendo Switch, filled with duplicitous schemes, treacherous geography, and secretive characters. • An underrated game in the Ys series, finally on Nintendo Switch!
Always heard that Ys Memories of Celceta (or Memoire: Revelations in Celceta as it is titled on Switch) was one of the lesser Ys games that isn’t as good as the mainline games OR Oath in Felgana, but I have thoroughly enjoyed playing this entry in the Ys series. So this is published by XSEED/Marvelous instead of NIS America like the mainline Ys games are, they bundle in a bunch of extras to get away with charging you full price for an older title from the PSP/Vita era. I am a little bit mixed on this practice and wish they would just release a standard version for $40-$50 or something like that. This game is only $30 on the eShop and it had a 10% discount at launch, so $40 would be fair IMO for just the game itself because Switch cartridges do cost a little more to produce than PS4/PS5 discs, for example. But I ultimately picked this version because I bought their previous Ys Memoire release digitally and regret not buying the physical version now that it’s out of print and only the PAL version is available on Amazon for an inflated price. You get a fabric map of the world, I never realized Ys is set in Europe, but that is clearly what the map is based on. You also get some art cards, acrylic key chains of Adol, Duran, and Karna that can be displayed in a little diorama. The quality is pretty decent, about what you would get in a collector’s edition of some games. Oh, also a CD of the OST, which is cool and much better than a download code like NIS America provides in their physical Ys releases. I think this title is really underrated honestly and I hope more people play it because I enjoyed the combat, exploration, story, and the characters. It runs at 60fps on Switch (as it should for a Vita game). No complaints, happy with my purchase. ... show more

    • Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta - DAY ONE EDITION - N
A Fantastic Return to a Classic Adventure Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta - Day One Edition is an outstanding action RPG that reminds me why the Ys series has remained a favorite among RPG fans for so many years. From the moment I started exploring the vast forests and mysterious regions of Celceta, I was hooked by the fast-paced combat, engaging story, and satisfying sense of adventure. The gameplay feels smooth and responsive, with battles that are easy to learn but rewarding to master. Switching between party members keeps combat fresh, and each character brings unique abilities that make encounters more strategic and enjoyable. The exploration is equally impressive, encouraging players to uncover every corner of the map while discovering hidden treasures, secrets, and side quests. One of the highlights is the story surrounding Adol’s lost memories. It creates an intriguing mystery that kept me invested from beginning to end. The cast of characters is memorable, and the world feels alive with interesting locations and lore that make the journey worthwhile. The updated presentation and soundtrack are excellent. The music perfectly captures the spirit of adventure, whether you’re battling powerful monsters or venturing into unknown territory. Performance on Nintendo Switch is solid, making it easy to enjoy both handheld and docked play sessions. The Day One Edition is a wonderful bonus for collectors. The included extras add great value and make the package feel special right out of the box. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the Ys franchise or completely new to the series, Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta delivers an exciting adventure packed with action, exploration, and memorable moments. This is an easy 5-star experience and one of the most enjoyable RPGs I’ve played on Switch. Highly recommended! ... show more
