  • Fun little distraction
This game is pretty good. Its sort of a timed guessing game with a bell for breaking rules. Some examples of rule cards being: you must high five your teamate asking you a question everytime you get it right, or the guesser can't say words starting with certain letters in their answers. You move after every round by correct answers, minus the rules broken. First team to reach the end of the game board wins. Only complaint it that its too short and you can get through a game in about 8 to 15 minutes and there are not enough rule cards. ... show more

  • This is uhmmmmmmm- good!
Can't Say Uhm is a great game. It's easy to learn for all-ages, and even gets people who aren't necessarily excited about games to want to play! The set-up only takes a few minutes, but you get half an hour of laughter. My family usually plays it multiple times in a row because all of the different rule cards keep the game interesting. ... show more

  • Fun game for groups.
If you are familiar with the game “Taboo”, you will see some similarities between it and YOU CAN'T SAY UMM… A FAST-PACED FAMILY WORD GAME. In both games you try and get your team to guess something. In taboo, you are prevented from using certain words when you try to describe something. In this game, you can't use any fill in words, at any time. That means words like “”umm, “ahh”, “uhh” or any of those words that most people use to fill in spaces when they’re thinking. There are 400 cards with words on them. Each person tries to get other players to guess as many of those words as they can in one timed minute. The words on the cards are easy to describe, but it's hard to follow the rules, and even harder to get away with breaking them. In addition to not be able to use filler words, special cards add new rules that can make it much harder to describe the word on your card. These rules vary, but they might be something like “you can't use any word that starts with the letter P when describing your card”. The more rules you add, the more difficult it gets to describe the word on your card, without making a mistake. This game is played with 4 to 12 players. My mom and I played a modified version of it and we had fun playing it. This is a very fast game, even with a large group, and I imagine it can get pretty rowdy with more people. I think most people would enjoy this game, and even with a lot of players, it moves quick. Giving clues, while try not to break the rules, guessing the clues, and calling out other players, who break the rules, keeps everybody on their toes, and involved during gameplay. You don't have people waiting around for their turn, because everybody is participating at all phases of the game. The fast pace and the ability to engage all players throughout the game makes this a a fun choice for game night. But, the most important thing is that YOU CAN'T SAY UMM… is just plain fun. ... show more

  • Fun for all!!!
This is a great game for teens to adults. Set up is easy and easier to learn. You and your teammate try to guess as many words as you can in a timed minute without saying "umm", "uh", "ahh", etc. Added to this, there are rule cards where you have to remember to do certain actions, such as bowing before starting a round, during your turn. The rules make the game more challenging and adds tons of laughter. The more rules, the more difficult to describe the words. You don't realize how often you say "umm" until you've played this game. The rounds are quick so you can play multiple times. Very fun game! ... show more

  • silly fun...our group was all over 50
Our game group is normally many ages but on the day we played this, we had two in their 50's, one in 60's and two people in their 70's. We enjoyed the game, it's clean silly fun. Appropriate for all ages, we did not see anything off color or such. It took us each a turn as "describer" to get the hang of it and not say "umm." You can use multiple words and gestures and such. Eventually, you get the hang of what you can and can't say or do. As the game progresses more silly rules get added. Rules like you can't say the word "like," or "keep your eyebrows raised" or "stomp your feet." First, the rules only apply to the "describer" but then to the whole team. Our group found it almost impossible to keep up with this many things for that many people all at the same time. We decided that one person would look out for "umms" and another for feet stomping and a third for something else. The next issue we had was that the game goes to 20 points. The opposing team gets a point every time you break a rule. But there's so many rules as you get going that you could get 5 or 6 points in one person's turn and after three rounds or so the game ends. We'd prefer to see it take more points to end the game, or less ways to get points. The other issue we had is that there are A and B cards that need to stay in that order. But they are the same color and there is no A or B on the side you read, only on the back. Everyone in our group had to keep flipping the cards to remind themselves which was A and which B and opponents then saw them a couple of times. We took a vote and it was agreed to give it 4 stars. We'd play it again but all agreed it would actually be more fun in a larger group so that each person wouldn't have to be on the lookout for so many rules. ... show more

  • You can't say um????
You know the minute that you start this all you want to say is um. It would be a great game for toastmasters where you are trying to get yourself to say those filler words less often. Its hard to play, but the rules are simple. You can get frustrated at yourself because it's so unconscious to use those words! ... show more
