I have been looking at getting a different stand up weed puller that was about $40 at my local hardware store. When I saw this come across my feed and I saw the price, I figured, why not. Because of the price and how it looked when I opened the box, I didn't have high expectations for this item. I screwed all the parts together and it was sturdier than I expected. I took it out in my back yard for a test run. I only have a sprinkler system set up in half my yard so one half is pretty moist and lush. This went into the ground without much effort on that side of the yard. Once the prongs were in the ground centered around the weed I just leaned the pole over onto the foot part until the weed was out. It was so simple and took very little effort. Ok, that worked better than I thought. I went over to the other half of my yard to try it in dryer soil. I know it said in the description to use it in moist soil but I figured, lets try it out anyways, for science! I centered it over a weed and gave it a good push down and it drove into the soil almost as easy as the last one. Once in the soil I leaned it over onto the foot and out popped the weed, root and all! Ok, now I'm impressed. I continued pulling weeds for awhile and while I did have some misfires that required realigning and trying again I would still call this a great weeder. My only issue is that you have to pull the weed clump out of the prongs every time. This may be typical with all of these types of weeders but its really the only issue I have with this item. While this item doesn't have a nice heavy wood handle and cast iron prongs it is very functional and at almost half the cost of the other one I was looking at. I would recommend this product for those looking to save their back and knees a little bit of a workout. Disclaimer: I am a vine member and I do get these items for free but I review all items honestly as if I had paid for them myself. In fact Amazon wants its Vine members to be critical of the items that they review. If I take the time to review an item then you can be rest-assured that, good or bad, it is an honest review.

I tested it in my backyard and successfully pulled out several weeds, including dandelions and crabgrass. The key to using this tool effectively is to locate the center of the weed where the root is anchored and insert the claw directly into the plant to extract the entire root.
