Very long and uncomfortable for an alto saxophone. Works for traditional flip books. But if you're using it for an e-flip, then you're going to run into some trouble. It's a solid piece, decent quality for the price. Arrived quickly. Just too long.

This lyre will do the job, but I do worry about its durability as the metal of the back plate (that the spring-arms clamp against) is pretty thin. As far as fit I tried it in 3 of our school tenor saxes. It was a loose fit in the Yamaha (though the set screw should hold it firmly), was a perfect fit in the Mendini, and was too big for our old Bundy tenor sax. Keeping that in mind, I've often taken a file to lyres to get them to fit, and wouldn't hesitate with this as well. ... show more

My daughter needed a lyre for her tenor saxophone and her school couldn’t provide one so I found this one for her. She said she likes it because it’s easy to attach to her tenor sax and it seems pretty stable. The clamp is strong so she doesn’t have to worry about losing her music. Didn’t fit on my son’s saxophone. Had to shave it down ourselves to fit correctly.

I’m not sure there’s anything wrong with the lyre, it was just the wrong size for our saxophone. It was much too big to fit the alto sax my son plays so he had to tape the music up for a parade, which didn’t work very well.
