If you know anything about drums (or read the description) you know this shell pack is just the drums and not any hardware beyond the tom holders. So no need to knock off any stars for that. This does rate 5 stars given the quality of this kit at this price point. Do yourself a favor and buy some new heads. A set of Evans UV2’s woke up this set, as did the Evans Genera HD smoothed out the snare. To aid in tuning, I recommend the Evans Torque Key - Drum Key Tuner... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002D0HZI?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share to help dial in your sound. Now that everything is tuned, I’m really happy with the kit. Great build quality and fit and finish. Tone of course depends on tuning but I’ve gotten big booming sounds to punchy attacks with some overtones. Yamaha delivers.

I didn't realize this set was drums only no cymbals or bass pedal. I should've read the description better. They appear to be very good quality. I bought them for my son's 14th birthday. He loves them. I did order the other stuff. It took about an hour to assemble. I did have someone with experience assemble them.

Upon arrival the box seemed well intact with no major flaws in the cardboard. After opening the box and removing everything to assemble the kit I found the kick drum to be badly damaged. The side wall was cracked all the way through and the damage caused a flattened radius creating a gap between the rim. No big deal for a simple return except the packaging to get this complete kit back in the box is a pain, it’s large heavy and hard to make fit the way it came for return. All that being said it was the day before Christmas and the main present so I needed to have something for my son and I had to assemble it and will have dissemble it again to return. Highly disappointed and don’t recommend this purchase. Was offered 50 dollars off an item that won’t be repaired or sold again. And there’s no symbols as pictured no stool and no kick pedal. Piss poor set and service

This is for my daughter's christmas. Mine came with everything but the cymbals and foot pedal that I knew it wouldn't but it's also missing the snare stand. However, it came with all the hardware and googling a video on YouTube it got me through assembly which is pretty easy once you got through it. Otherwise, its a great instrument really sturdy. Caught the $419 sale so it's a good price.

MAKE SURE YOU KNOW IT DOESN'T COME WITH CYMBALS OR SNARE STAND!!! The quality is very nice but I felt scammed because there included cymbals and many other items in the picture that it does present.

The set is the beginning line for Yamaha and made of poplar, an excellent wood for tone. As I put new heads on, which is something I think everyone will need to do to be totally happy, the Drums came alive!. Snare Drum is snappy. Tom’s are full and get that punch a drum set requires these days. Tone is excellent as I compared to my maple set by DW. I applied 2 ply Evans for the batter head and with the low mil resonant head, the sound fell in place. I compared them to my DW kit and was impressed with the sound. I was very surprised that I would be able to get a $379 complete shell kit to sound anywhere near the quality of the maples by DW. Thank you very much! With proper cymbals and hardware, the set will hold its own in most venues. I am very happy that I I was able to get the quality I was looking for in this Yamaha Rydeen kit.
