What if boutique-inspired drums loaded with pro-features were more affordable? What if drummers could get a wide variety of our most popular Custom Shop sizes and colors without breaking the bank? We're proud to introduce a new concept, a completely re-imagined line of PDP drums designed for every drummer. It’s called the Concept Series and it has a fresh new look and a sound that already has drummers talking. Choose from Concept Maple or Concept Birch shells in a myriad of today’s most popular configurations. Then, add toms or bass drums to build custom-style kits to suit just about every musical style. Add to that, high-end features like STM (Suspension Tom Mounts), True Pitch tension rods, MAG throw-off, die cast low-mass claw hooks, proportionate counter hoops and durable lacquer finishes, and you have a kit that unquestionably lives up to its DW roots. Concept Series is a new line of PDP drums that are available in both all-maple or all-birch shells. All shells are 7-ply, except for the snare which is 10-ply. Through our research with the DW Custom Shop, we have found some particular detail features that have a big effect on sound and quality. We believe every drummer deserves these features, so we included DW-style STM mounting systems, True Pitch trade; tuning, F.A.S.T. tom sizing, proportional counter hoop sizing, and Remo drum heads. Snare drums come with the DW MAG throw-off and boutique-style copper wires. Bass drums come with die-cast claw hooks, and all drums feature the new retro- inspired dual-turret tube lug.

For the money you cant "beat" these drums. The hardware is high quality and the exterior finish is above average. The maple ply shells carry well and the 7 piece set I bought is versatile to almost any music. I did have to put new REMO skins on the cans and once tuned they sound very good. Been playing drums for around 20 years now. This kit is great. Are there better drum sets out there ? Yes but for this price it’s really hard to beat. Swapped the heads and I have a very nice sounding kit now. Been banging on it for over a year now. Still holding up. For those crying about it missing hardware….well they clearly are not familiar with the drum world. Hardware rarely comes with a kit and if it does that kit is probably entry level. The media could not be loaded. My son loves it! Wasn’t expecting symbols because it’s clearly stated that they’re not included so I don’t understand why so many people expected symbols regardless of the pictures. He already has his own and we knew exactly what we were getting. YEAH I SPENT THE MONEY. AND YEAH I WANTED AN INEXPENSIVE DRUM SET, BUT HEY EVEN A CHEAP GUITAR WILL TUNE, BUT THESE THINGS WILL NOT TUNE EVEN WITH A TUNE BOT I CANNOT GET THEM TO GO INTO TUNE. I've been using the kit for a few weeks now and it is fantastic. This kit sounds like a kit that is twice the price. This is my first step up from a beginners kit. I am mainly a guitarist but I record as well and the drums sound great when recorded. Set up was very easy and the white is a nice classic look that gives a little pearlescent shine when the light hits it. I bought this set through guitar center and was very disappointed. Problems right out of the box. 1. One tom came with the wrong hoops. They were a different lug pattern. Luckily the drum tech at guitar center was very helpful and switched em out for me. 2. There was a crack on the bass drum. When contacting PDP/DW they said it was cosmetic when it was clearly body/shell damage. Very little help from the manufacturer. I was very disappointed with Dan's help in customer service. I got the runaround was left waiting for a response. 3. The bearing edges were uneven. I was having a hard time tuning this set and couldn't figure out why there where so many overtones. After trying a couple of different head types I finally checked the bearing edges. They were uneven/not square. I don't know if you know anything about bearing edge on drums but I've learned that they can be a really big problem. If it weren't for the guys at Guitar Center I'd still be dealing with DW. Fortunately I was able to return it through Guitar Center Pro coverage. I got my money back and I'm now waiting for a Mapex Armory set. Mapex seems to be the only drum company that's even concerned with bearing edges. We'll see. I'm sure PDP/DW make wonderful sets. I may have just gotten a bad one. My first set is a PDP Z5 and it has its issues but that's what I expected from a starter set. I won't be buying from PDP/DW anymore based on their customer service alone. Guitar Center is still cool though ... show more

The sound of this kit is excellent. One of my mentors had a PDP set I used to play on and I've always wanted one for myself. Sounds just like I remember. I replaced the snare drum with a smaller one from PDP I already had because I prefer a higher, snappy sound, but the included snare is okay. The tom mount is great because it has an extra mount slot. I used it for a splash (see photos). I love the black hardware, however, it collects dust like nobody's business. The Mapex Armory black series snare and cymbal stands pair great with this set.
