Description

Yamaha has always strived to provide sound engineers with the purest possible signal instead of added processing or color to give it a "signature" sound, and the MG Series is no exception. Embracing this philosophy of transparent sound, these mixing consoles deliver a level of sonic purity and sound quality that is unmatched in their class. This is where it all starts. Everything you do as a sound engineer is dependent on the quality of your preamps, which determines the direction your mix will take, and ultimately how good it is going to sound. MG Series mixing consoles feature Yamaha's studio-grade discrete class-A D-PRE preamps, which utilize an inverted Darlington circuit comprising two cascading transistors in a configuration that provides more power with lower impedance. Delivering fat, natural sounding bass and smooth, soaring highs, with very low distortion, D-PRE preamps possess an impressively wide frequency range that allow them to handle signal from any audio source without overly amplifying any specific elements of the sound. Having such a pure sonic platform to build on will ultimately save you time and effort by eliminating the need for excessive EQing or additional effects processing in order to "fix" your mix.

  • Best small mixer for the Buck!!!
Size: 10-input Style: USB Interface with Effects
This little Yamaha mixer is one of the best small mixers that I have used. The effects on the mixer are good enough to use for a concert setting but still leave a little to be desired. I’m not a huge fan of knobs I prefer sliders but for this particular mixer it works well. The only thing that I would change perhaps is I would add at least one auxiliary output but I have made do with the monitor output. This lot of mixers really represents quality and Yamaha did a great job. If you were looking for a small mixer weather USB or for a smaller concert setting for soloist this is the mixer to use ... show more

  • One of the best mixers on the market
Size: 10-input Style: Standard Mixer
I've been a audio production engineer for nearly three decades dot with that said I have tons of experience working with outboard gear and mixers with thousands of hours under my belt. Other than the old Allen Heath mixers and older generation Mackie mixers, the Yamaha mg series mixers are some of the best around. Clean preamps and hot signal levels. The only thing I would say that's not so hot is the USB setup on the USB versions is a little slow to use as an interface. It does work but you will get some latency. ... show more

  • Love this mixer
Size: 12-input Style: Standard Mixer
I purchased this mixer to replace another more complex X Air 16 mixer. I wanted something more basic. The quality and sound are great. I use it for acoustic groups and I really like it. I can have 2 stage monitors and mains and easily control everything. I have a small 6 channel Yamaha and needed something with more channels and the ability to control stage monitors. You can’t beat Yamaha quality. I would highly recommend. ... show more

  • Worth Every Penny!
Size: 6-input Style: Built-in Effects
It does exactly what it says it does, excellent sound quality. High quality knobs, plenty of stereo channels for stereo input. If you use an XLR Condenser Mic, like I do, then this board comes with Phantom Power 48v, and eliminates the need for it to be on the audio interface. Built in effects are pretty cool too if you you dont have any pedals. Stereo Output XLRs are nice. I really have zero complaints with this. I almost bought the knock off version of this, and Im glad I didnt. Definitely spend the extra few dollars. Yamaha is known for having superior sound quality, so its better than buying a cheaper knock off with sub-par parts. Its great for streaming or you want to have solid mixing going into the audio interface. Just like all mixers, if your audio interface has only a mic and instrument input, you can treat that as a stereo input. ... show more

  • Many good things about this mixer
Size: 10-input Style: USB Interface with Effects
Well built chassis and nicely colored knobs with easy to see markings. It would be nice if all 4 combo jacks had compression but since I use two mics normally, this works. The sound quality is very good and the FX are good with enough ways to manipulate them. I don't understand the HUGE power supply though. In my 50 plus years of owning gear I've never seen one this big for something so compact. Overall I believe this unit to be a fine piece of gear, worth the money. ... show more

  • Well made, quality materials
Size: 6-input Style: Standard Mixer
This is a really well made unit, and the fit and finish is quite good. Controls all work smoothly, and the sound quality is very good for our application (small PA system). I do wish the mic preamps had a little more gain, or that it had a mic trim pot where I could boost the signal when needed. Other than that, no complaints. If i was doing it over again, I would probably get the 10 input version, which does have the mic trim as well as extra EQ, but this fills our needs at a slightly lower price. ... show more
