I was looking for something to replace an aging Harmonium, a musical instrument popular in India. I was unsure whether the YPT-270 will be appropriate for that purpose, since I was not familiar with the capabilities of the YPT-270. I am very pleased with the product. It has the Harmonium sound in single, double and triple reeds! In addition, it can play 400 other instruments and sound effects from all over the world. I am simply amazed with its capabilities! Please note that it does have a 1/4-inch headphone jack for listening through a headphone without disturbing others. This is a well-made keyboard for any musical enthusiast. It provides a lot of fun and entertainment. The keyboard is replete with so many neat features.

Grandma's gift to our 7 year old daughter (I did the research). It's a little pricey but seems worth it. Really light but built solidly. Takes 6 AA batteries or the wall wort. The batteries are a great option. I thought it would be too big for her but it's actually a decent size that she can grow into nicely. I was most concerned about sound quality, which is why I went for Yamaha quality. The sound is great. Very realistic for a beginner keyboard. One thing I really like is the button layout is not cumbersome or overly complicated. It seems pretty intuitive and I'm sure my daughter will have it figured out in a short amount of time. If we experience issues, I'll be sure to come back and update this review. But so far, we're pretty happy with this purchase. ... show more

    • Excellent beginner piano
So I am someone in their late-20's, and I decided to take piano lessons. I looked around online for used pianos and most of the pianos were really old (don't know if that makes a difference when one is just starting out), and they were charging prices that are usually for brand new pianos. I looked around online and came across this one. The price is good, and well it's my first piano, so I didn't know what else to search for. The sound quality for the piano is excellent, but it's not weight sensitive (duh!). The materials used for construction are also good. The only thing that kind of irks me would be the power button. It's not the most responsive button, especially when I try to turn it off. I would prefer the power button to have a clicking sound, idk, that's just me.     • Worked better than expected! Was not headphone-compatible.
This keyboard worked better than expected! At first, I thought it would have a couple instruments, but it turns out to have over 400! It even has some sound effects that you can play. I was disappointed when I noticed that it wasn't headphone compatible. When I looked at the product on Amazon, the description told me that it would work with headphones. There is a place to plug the headphones in, but it did not work for me. The sound quality for some of the instruments, for example, electric guitar, sounds a little bit unrealistic, but that is to be expected and the piano setting sounds fine. One of my favorite features is the ability to listen to the preset songs on the keyboard while looking at the finger placing on the little screen. Great product, would buy again! ... show more
