I use it as an anchor pole for my kayak. If you buy this, check to make sure the tip is secure. Mine was not and pulled right out. I was lucky to get it back. You could see the manufacturer didn't use much glue at all. I took care of that minor oversight, and it's good to go.

My two friends have this item so of course I had to buy one too! We kayak on a river feeding into the intracoastal waterway. We do half our trip and then stop to rest. Because the ocean tides affect the ICW and the river we use the kayak stick to anchor us while we take a break.     • Know the soil of your waterway. Will not always work.

In my mind, I was going to be able to use this in rivers & lakes in OH,KY & IN. That is not the case. Our rivers and lakes do not have soft enough soil and I have tried several bodies of water. I’m sure it would work splendidly in sandy bottomed coastal waters. Now, that said… it does work well to push my kayak if I bottom out and get stuck. Now that I have it, I wish it broke down into two sections because one 6ft pole is a lot to store. On my yak I usually stick it in a rod holder behind me to keep it out of the way which works ok but it will occasionally get in the way under trees. ... show more
