It was straight forward to put together: the book comes with clear picture instructions, similar to IKEA furniture. You don’t have to be strong, but the lift top is nearly impossible to screw on without another person holding it up. Although all the individual parts had some sort of cosmetic defect, I would say they were ok for the price. The table is shorter than what I would like, but the height is fair for a coffee table. Don’t expect to be able to eat off the lift top comfortably on a standard sofa as you only get about 3” clearance for your thigh. The picture shows that this is 24” tall but it is only 23.5”. The inner compartment is only 15” wide. The table is also is lopsided when finished. Pleasantly surprised to find that all the predrilled holes were correctly aligned-that was one of my fears reading other reviews. The lift-top goes up and down without jolting, one person can do it easily. It’s easier to put it up than down. The top is not the most robust, so I would recommend using two hands to lift from each edge. On the contrary of some reviews, the warning sticker is easy to remove if you want to. Overall, it looks nice but it does chip and scratch quickly.

my boyfriend and i put this together in a little over an hour and it works great! we have had it for a couple of months and loved it. i did accidentally break it by putting my feet on the bottom shelf but we popped it back into place and you can’t really notice unless you look. has not affected it so far.

The top part (where the table lifts) has been fine and holds up well. The mechanism to lift up and push down is a bit finicky and is sometimes abrupt when being lifted. The poor quality comes from the bottom shelf of the table. The shelf has fallen off after 2 months, and the parts did not hold the sides well enough to keep that shelf in place, so oftentimes there's a gap to show the exposed parts. Overall, if you're looking for a coffee table that lifts well enough (not super smooth) and don't mind a loose bottom shelf or missing bottom shelf, it is a good purchase.
