I have a 2nd smaller living room that I have a small love seat as the "couch" so everything is smaller in size. I had searched around for a lift top coffee table for a while and found that the really expensive versions online and at local furniture stores had tops that lifted far too high and would not be a comfortable sitting situation for eating or using my laptop while seated, at least for my love seats sitting height. Because I am OCD I always research things to the point I'm exhausted and many times decide after days/weeks of research that I probably don't need a particular item. I knew I wanted something for this room so I continued my research. I found this exact same table at another online vendor, they even used the same pictures as this vendor on Amazon, at double the price. I had almost ordered it from that vendor before I decided to try and see what Amazon had to offer. Initially I was hesitant because I thought perhaps the other vendor had a different manufacturer and possibly a better quality...but again, same pictures used on both sites. Granted, they did "technically" show a different manufacturers name but at this point I am thinking they are using the "middle mans" name instead of the actual manufacturers name. For those reviewers that complain the table is hard to put together and the directions are confusing....again, I am OCD.....but I laid all the parts out and marked them with sticky notes to make absolutely sure I didn't mess anything up. For the first part where the two smaller sides attach I did initially put them on the wrong direction.....but on the next step I realized that quickly after looking at the picture. So, solution for me was to go to the next step each time to look at the picture of what was coming up next to make sure I did the prior connections correctly. Upon taking that extra step it all went very smoothly. For those that say the holes did not line up, that is true if you don't follow the directions correctly and perhaps a part is on in the wrong direction. Like another reviewer I was able to complete the assembly of the whole table with no help whatsoever and in under 1.5 hours (I'm 57 year old woman). When it came to installing the top part with the springs I used couch cushions to hold the top in place while I installed the screws. The only minor challenge I encountered was installing one of the screws to hold the spring in place. The first spring I was able to lower it and it stayed while I installed said screw. With that confidence in mind I lowered the second spring but when I lightly touched it to install the screw in place that spring slammed back up by itself and cut my finger......lesson learned....be careful and trust nothing....kinda like people....LOL Now that the table is put together the springs work perfectly due to the weight of the table top. One reviewer said to use a drill to install....for me I felt that was not a wise choice. With press board materials one can over tighten any of those locking nuts and cause it to "wallow" out, for a lack of verbiage. It takes just a few seconds longer to do it manually but you can feel when it is tight and then you know it's time to stop turning. With a drill you may over tighten and then you can't fix that mistake. For those reviewers that talk about how cheap the material is and how it easily breaks.....and some even put pictures showing the ripped out portions of the materials. The material is fine/good......but when you're installing this type of product that is not "real" wood....but actually a press board, which is perfectly fine if you treat it right.....you have to get it right, turn the screw to lock it in place......but if you then twist the material after that locking head is in place.....then you're going to rip the material....so it's not really the materials fault as much as the installation process used. I'm sure the nay sayers of this table can find fault in anything they purchase.....especially if they are not doing something within the products capabilities. For me, this table was a lot of bang for the buck and I love it. If someone is seeking perfection, solid wood, top of the line then perhaps you need to go pay 10 times the price for another table. However, if you are capable of taking the time to put this table together correctly after thinking it through carefully...then you will end up with a nice piece of furniture that will work great for many years to come.

I had been looking for a coffee table like this for about six months before I decided on this one and made the purchase. Even though it said it would be delivered in 3 days, it arrived the next day. Pleasant surprise. I'm a senior citizen, single woman, and I've put furniture together before so I'm familiar with the process. I was able to put it together by myself, even though it recommends two people. I would have needed help with holding up the table top extension to screw in the springs, but I was able to figure out a way to prop it while I screwed it in place. I was very proud of myself. lol I've had it about a month now and I'm more than happy with it. It's sturdy. The top extends and retracts easily (my 5-year old grandson can do it), AND it says in place perfectly. I love it. It's better than I expected. A great value. I recommend it.

I ordered this table several months ago and have been really happy with the purchase. The table was easy to assemble if you've ever bought anything from IKEA and can follow directions closely. Once assembled, it's sturdy and very well made. Read the helpful comments left by other reviewers! I use the lift top every day. It serves as my dinner table, laptop stand, tabletop gaming station, and more. The storage underneath the lift top is decent enough just be careful not to stick anything under the hinges. The three cube compartments in the bottom are also very convenient for small apartment life.

This table is replacing a similar but larger unit that was interfering with the traffic flow. This unit fits the spot perfectly. You have to be careful on assembly as there are two sizes of cams that fit in specific locations and can be mixed up. Look at the instruction carefully to see which ones go where or you will end up taking parts apart to exchange cams for the correct ones. This is typical MDF with a veneer finish that looks good but is definitely not top quality furniture but is certainly functional. The lifting mechanism is very stiff but is starting to ease up with use. You would be satisfied with this product.

This product was not available for free Prime shipping, but after reading so many positive reviews and the price being so decent I had to try it. It arrived days ahead of the estimate which was really nice. Unfortunately it did arrive with a couple nicks and small gashes in the wood, but all in unseen areas after complete so I'm not terribly concerned. The building instructions had no written directions but the visual instructions use lettered and numbered parts to show you what to do. The last step is A TWO PERSON STEP. I wanted to surprise my husband by having it built so I painstakingly did the last step my self which was near impossible to do and I do NOT recommend trying πΉ. The pop up top requires two hands to lift, and each hand needs to be near the left edge and right edge to properly lift. Kind of like when you grab a paper towel and it says "use both hands", it MEANS it! Top is a little heavy to move at first but you get used to the weight required to move it use after use. I love having the storage inside, but just a heads up: if you have the top popped and want access to the storage, you can't really see into it if you are sitting on the side of the popped table. You can reach your hand in easy and grab anything close to the edge but you can't really see what it is. Overall I'm very pleased! Works great for eating on or using a laptop as well as having storage and space so as not to have a bunch of clutter!! Edit: I reached out to the seller about the wood damage. There were one or two that I had not noticed that were pretty bad and I wanted to let them know. They were very responsive and helpful and offered to send replacement parts. I did decline that since I already put the table together. They then offered to refund a small part of the price which was really great!!
