The package was late arriving, so USPS got a 1 star, but once it arrived it was exactly what I had expected. The instruction sheet is printed in 3 languages with plenty of pictures to help with the assembly. Everything went together as expected, no problem at all with the assembly. When I read the reviews I noted a couple that didn’t make sense at the time. The first was the one with the wrong parts sent. The arms are different, the one with two holes have smaller holes then the one with three holes. That’s why the user couldn’t assemble it. I suspect a call to the support line or an email would have resolved that issue quickly enough. The other was the use of pencils to reach narrow rims. The arm with 3 holes can be moved over toward the center slot in the base and would pretty much be able to reach any point. Even a rear wheel could be trued using the brake adjusting arm. The pins fit in the holder and could then be positioned to check the trueness of the cassette side. I maybe missing something but the stand seems to me to work fine without any tricks. Thru axil wheels can be trued using an adapter easily found on Amazon as well. ... show more

Note, this is the first and only truing stand I've ever owned or used so keep that fact into perspective in my review. The XIWUEI Wheel Truing Stand is mainly known on Ebay and other places by another name: WEST BIKING. The instructions were essentially wordless but very easy to understand, except for the front/back orientation which I figured out by looking at the photos on the ad page here and elsewhere. It took me less than 20 minutes to build and figure out, easy. I paid $74, on sale on Amazon, and by the time all my discounts came in it was $54, an excellent price and lower than all other vendors. In terms of instructions, though, it would be nice if there was a video somewhere since I had to learn, eventually, how to use it on a wheel myself. I learned, also, that despite the ad for this product stating that it's not made for thru hubs, and it isn't at first glance, it can easily be used for thru hubs with any one of the many thru axle adaptors available all over the place, at a small additional cost of from $8-$64 as of this day of writing (1/5/23). I was able to use this truing stand with the tire on the rim easily and reliably. The rotor attachment is a very welcome addition, something not available on the great majority of truing stands on the market presently. I attached the tool to a small wooden table with metal support/legs easily (table measured 23 inches x 15 x15) and now have a wheel truing station in my bicycle work area at home. The one gripe I have is that, in order to adjust the width of the unit to fit the variety of widths found on bicycle axles, the user has to loosen a hand tightened locking knob in the front, lower right side and forcefully, but not incrementally, tap or painfully slide the right side tower to the correct width. I'd much rather be able to use the somewhat commonly available (on other truing stands) incremental side mounted knob that very precisely accomplishes this task easily. But, considering the price and the frequency I expect to use this tool, I'll live with this small but annoying limitation. As for the criticism here found in the reviews (the 4 star rated one) that mentioned the need for pencils to reach the rim or bolts to tighten a quick release type hub, I found that absolutely untrue and its mentioning probably says more about that user not knowing what they're doing than any limitation of this tool. Overall, the XIWUEI Wheel Truing Stand or the WEST BIKING truing stand, whatever, is well worth its price, especially if your truing tasks aren't done very often. As such, I highly recommend this purchase as long as the price remains reasonable in terms of cost/benefit and you obtain thru axle adapters for those thru axle wheels. ... show more

I like it but there is no easy way to make sure both sides are the same. This makes it easy to endup with a straight but lopsided wheel. Great tool for just replacing a single snapped spoke and getting it 98% straight.

    • solid stand, but needs minor modifications to be useful

The stand is nice and solid, but there are a few issues. 1) the metal bracket that holds the wheel hub is not thick enough to engage the quick release. I fixed this by removing the skewer on my wheel and putting a large bolt on both sides of the hub. This adds the necessary thickness so the wheel can be snugly attached to the stand. 2) the pins used to gauge the rim deformations are not quite long enough for road bike wheels and the ends are too thick to easily see if the wheel is out of round. The solution here was to replace the pins with a set of pencils. With these minor modifications, I found the stand to be very useful and definitely worth the money. It's not perfect, but certainly a huge step up from truing wheels on the bike using the brake pads. ... show more

Cons: this isn't a $500 truing stand Pros: this isn't a $500 truing stand This stand is good enough for most people. I just trued up a set of carbon wheels and it went really smoothly. I've used premium park tool truing stands before and while they are nice, they only really offer extra precision and usability. So if you don't work at a bike shop and aren't a perfectionist the XIWUEI one will work just fine at a much lower price point. It also takes up less space. ... show more
