Definitely get this for throwing on bats. A couple of other uses: as a trimming "bat" - if you're trimming the foot of something that's not too tall, this will help the leather-hard piece stay in place while you trim it on the wheel, and secondarily as a base if you're manually wet-sanding at your wheel since it's so absorbent and makes the cleanup easy.     • Bat mate idea
I had a bat that didn't have holes, and I tried to use this instead of clay. It didn't work for me. I think its intention is to help wobbly bats, but I don't have that problem. I ended up drilling holes in my wheel. I will keep this to try if I get a wobble. I will update you if I do.

    • Makes trimming so much easier
I bought this to use for trimming my cups and bowls and believe it or not it works better than expected. Recommend this to anyone who dislikes adding balls of clay at the base to trim that then distorts the beautiful thrown rims.
