Seems like a good quality smoke detector, but be aware that the provided mounting plate doesn't have holes for a standard electrical box. I previously had a hardwired detector, ordered this thinking I'd just skip the hardwire and screw the mounting plate into the box. Holes in the mounting plate don't match up, so I had to measure and drill new ones to mount it. Annoying extra step, but other than that it's fine. ... show more

So far so good. Hung it near the garage and it worked when I tested it. Cheaper than my local store and not too big for where I hung it up. May buy a few more as spares bc sometimes ours work for a few years and then they quit. Yes, changing the batteries helps which I do every time change we have, like spring forward, fall back with the clocks times...
