This is useful if you don’t want to hire an electrician for hardwiring. It’s very easy to install. I like the concept, and it works well. I deducted one star because the new version is very similar to the old one, except it’s more expensive and no longer includes the cable.

CANNOT work as a standalone smart socket. Must be linked with a wyze cam. The control for the socket is from the associated wyze cam. So if that camera malfunctions, you cannot control the socket. Frequent power outages may cause a configuration reset. Hope a firmware update can fix this poor design and allow for STANDALONE operation. ... show more

It works fine for what it is, just don't expect full integration into your Wyze solution. It's not addressable as a device, it can only be paired to a single camera. That camera can trigger it with motion, or with a bulb icon in the app for that camera to manually turn it on and off. I can't link it to another camera facing the other way or to a Wyze doorbell to have it cover two different approaches. It is a one trick pony, lacking flexibility. But it does work, so it's a good trick if you have need for that particular pony. I modified it by cutting the rubber USB plug off since it was in the way, so I guess it's mine now.
