Description

This book is designed for both the beginner and expert alike. It will cover: carburetor types - component identification - fuel and air circuits - rich and lean symptoms - Honda idle drop method - pressure differential- federal emission testing - tips and tricks to clean carburetors - the venturi effect - the inertia effect - intake tuned length - exhaust tuned length - the inertial scavenging effect- understanding stochiometric efficiency - how to find optimum horsepower - how to find optimum fuel economy - how to sync carburetors both on and off the bike - measure float level - measure fuel level - how to find vacuum leaks - tuning and testing methodology - carburetor tuning - carburetor modification - how to remove stuck jets - how to tune with a wide band oxygen sensor - how to use an exhaust gas analyzer _______________ ______________________________________________________________________________ _____ Additional Information Carburetor cleaning - The best tips and tricks gathered from thousands of technicians on how to service and clean carburetors. In-depth theory and operation of carburetion, and how modifying the intake and exhaust influence the breathing characteristics of the engine. I also laid out some of the basic mathematics to calculate things like exhaust-tuned length. I’ve kept the math simple and straightforward and provided an explanation of the applied physics behind the mathematics to help the reader understand how all this stuff works. I wanted to go even further and explain what the exhaust gases do inside the combustion chamber and how to interpret the burnt gases. I believe this is one of the most important aspects of understanding how carburetors work, even if you don't plan on buying an exhaust gas analyzer. Also, I have added additional tuning tools, like how to use a wide-band oxygen sensor. Federal emission testing regulations, and the impact it has on your motorcycle - I felt that it was important to discuss federal emissions. Even though most states do not conduct emission testing the manufacturers required the product to pass stringent emissions. As these regulations have an influence on how your bike is designed and how it runs. We will cover in-depth, the exact testing guidelines that are required by the manufacturer. Understanding this perspective will prove to be invaluable. Carburetor modifications - How to modify and tune carburetors for increased power or fuel efficiency. About the author I’ve spent 25 years as a corporate motorsport’s trainer for some of the largest manufacturers in the world, I felt like I always had my hands tied behind my back and was unable to explain some of the most important tuning tips. Advising either a technician or a dealer on how to modify a carburetor is prohibited by any manufacturer I have worked for. This was one of the reasons for writing this book, I want carburetor tuning and modification to be accessible to everyone. I even discussed the things that should only be done for competition purposes and are not EPA street-legal. “A top fuel dragster, chances are that won’t pass emissions, but it's fast ”. Your content recommendations are welcome This is the first iteration of this book. If you have ideas or suggestions on additional content that you'd like to see. I will respond to any reviews left. Past content I have designed was for professional technicians that do this for a living, so I'll be curious to know if the difficulty level is too high or too low for the typical motorcycle enthusiast. Anyhow, I would love to hear your feedback, thank you for taking the time to read this. Read more

  • Fanstic book
Even though the book is over 200 pages, I really enjoyed the book I wish it was twice as large. Is your intro suggests you welcome feedback. I would like to see a little larger text font, and information on how to tune Harley-Davidson carburetor specifically
