The lid must be opened to open a drawer. - What If I pull both drawers out, but THEN close the top cover? I closed the lid, THEN I closed both drawers and WAS able to get them to somewhat “snap” into place (but not as tightly) Tipping it forward at 45 deg angle and jostling hard, I was able to get both drawers to slide forward. (Drawers were full for this test.) (They can’t push in quite as far since they will be hitting the locking bar behind the drawers with the top lid down.) I'm finding it very useful, and it's saving me time by not having to "dig" to find things in old "box w tray". --------------------- DisLike: 4-Star instead of 5 because of missing advertised Drawer Liners. The AD shows two additional liners for the two drawers. ONLY the liner for the TOP was included in the one I received. There were NO liners included for the drawers. (Note that they would slightly reduce the available 2” storage height.) This tool box definitely handles weight well. I didn't really need this stout of a toolbox, but I'd rather have stronger than I need than not strong enough. This toolbox only needs to house my 3D printing tools, some watchmaking tools, and assorted electronics tools. I am so relieved to finally get some organization to my mess!!! The paint is very nicely done. It is smooth and feels like it will hold up for a long time. All of the riveting is tight and solid. The drawers aren't particularly smooth, but they do hold closed pretty well. There is a caveat to that last statement. They do hold closed, but they don't hold tight or even. Kinda hard to explain, but even though they don't flop open, there is some slop in the slides. What happens is that when closed, the drawers aren't perfectly straight. One side seems to hang further out than the other. See the top drawer in the picture. The left side sits further out than the right. You can push it in to be even, but it flops right back into that position. It jiggles a bit when you push on it. Both drawers do, actually. It isn't a huge thing, but I did notice it. I didn't ding a star because I think that is more me being picky than a flaw with the box. I just think the slides are a little sloppy. Perhaps more a function of the price range than anything else. This toolbox does seem pretty well made overall. I am glad to have it.

You don't want to haul this thing around. I'm sure it is up for the challenge, but it's really a more refined toolbox that belongs on a shelf rather than being bashed up on the road. Almost everything is on point in the unit that I received. The drawers work just fine. As another reviewer showed, they are sturdy and designed with ball bearings. They have a good amount of storage height. You get inserts to protect the toolbox and your tools. The lid has nice hinges and a locking mechanism that can be a bit of a nuisance. It works as expected. Lift the top up to allow the drawers to slide out. The steel feels appropriate for the size of the box: not a ton of flex, strong enough to keep its form and allow you to take many pounds of weight. The only quibble I have is that one of my latches is a tiny bit out of alignment so I have to push it a little to the left to get it to close.

I own a few other products from WorkPro and have been pleased with them. This is an old-school toolbox, but very functional and well made. The gauge of the metal is thick enough to be durable without making the toolbox heavy. The latches on the lid securely lock in place, and there is a padded liner inside. The drawers are reminiscent of those found on a roll-around tool chest. They slide in and out easily and smoothly but won’t slide open on their own if you tip the toolbox forward. There are padded liners in both drawers also. For me, I am using this for drill bits... smaller bits in the drawers and large bits like those for drilling door lockset holes go in the top section. I probably won’t be carrying this around but will leave it on a shelf in my workshop.

This toolbox holds everything that I had scattered in a few cases. The 3 levels help make everything a little more visible than if I had just dumped it all in a bag like my previous organization. The locking mechanism is a little annoying, the top had to be open before the drawers would slide in and out, not just popped open like they show, but all the way open. I would prefer a different way to lock the drawers. Overall I do recommend this toolbox. I got the 18 inch, 2 drawer, blue one. Thank you for reading my review.
