  • OLD SCHOOL TRADITIONAL HOODOO
This book is old school traditional hoodoo the way African Americans in the south practiced it. There are people applying New Age and Wicca concepts and practices into hoodoo saying its traditional when it's not. Practitioners of hoodoo worked in the graveyard, collected graveyard dirt, they do separation work, domination work, and other types of work that are healing and protection. Practitioners of hoodoo also use the bible in their works, such as the Psalms, Exodus, and other books of the bible. People want to take the bible out of hoodoo, because they have issues with Christianity. Also, practitioners of hoodoo work a lot with their ancestors. I would recommend this book to any one interested in traditional hoodoo. ... show more

  • THE Best Book for Conjure
I know Hoodoo Sen Moise personally. I was so happy to go to his store and meet him when I visited New Orleans. I am so looking forward to January's trip to see him again. This book is....amazing. I wish I could put 10 Stars. Working Conjure is really the only book you need for this type of work. This is one of the most user friendly books on this topic. Even if you are a newbie to hoodoo, you will be able to understand. Every single word was written with care and love. Hoodoo Sen Moise is kind, honest, and authentic. I had to have cancer surgery. I had no energy to do the work part so I read the Psalms. I swear I am feeling better because of this! If anyone who reads this gets to New Orleans, PLEASE visit Conjured New Orleans. Even if you have a heavy spirit with just life issues, you will feel so wonderful after you talk to Hoodoo and Johnny. I cannot tell Hoodoo enough how much I love him. He is truly a dear soul and a gifted writer. I love you bunches, Hoodoo Sen Moise... Allison ... show more

  • You want the Real Deal on Conjure... Buy This one..
If your'e anything like me, your bookshelf is LOADED with magickal reading materials. I love to collect knowledge, and this book goes far to offer the most practical tips and tools for working Conjure. Written with conversational tones, loaded with hands-on- how-to's, and NOT loaded with wordy indecipherable jargon. Conjure hails from FOLK magick...so any book on the topic should be easily understood and able to be followed by anyone; from the Novice to the Advanced practitioner. This is hand-down the BEST book I've read on this topic, and I will gladly recommend it to anyone wanting to get serious about their work. Can't wait 'til spirt tells Hoodoo Sen Moise to write his next book. I'll be first in line for the pre-order! ... show more

  • Knowledgeable and Comprehendable: Worthy of any Personal Library
This is a well written book that with each chapter gives true praise to 35 years of experience from the author. Working Conjure begins with a brief history of how it was introduced to the American Culture but quickly jumps into the core of how working conjure is performed. Each chapter identifies a specific area of conjure from the importance and significance of both the materials required and the ways in which they are used. One does not need to have a prior knowledge of conjure to receive all the values this book contains. Working Conjure does well to identify the true nature of working with hoodoo and conjure through clear explanation of each step for why each is performed and does a perfect job of identifying true practice from misconceptions of movies and fictional stories. I am fortunate to have meet the author and have attended classes of his and this book is like have a personal class from him whenever I need a refresher, my only wish is to see more volumes from him. ... show more

  • Working Conjure
I happen to know the man. He is the real thing. If you like the book, and I’m sure you will. He does travel and teach. Or come visit New Orleans! I bought two copies, one for me, another as a birthday present.

  • Informative
This book is like having a conversation with Hoodoo Sen Moise himself at a pub, on the street or at someone’s house. Well written and informative book.

  • A wonderful addition to my library.
This is a wonderful book for anyone that's a beginner in Hoodoo. The author's tone through out the book is engaging and keeps your attention. He gives you the history of Root work and how it's related to Voodoo but how it's not the same and actually explains what Root work actually is. I've read a few books on Hoodoo in the past and I've read lots of book about all kinds of forms of magic, but I really enjoyed this author's style of writing and I did learn a lot from this book. I really liked how he explained that Hoodoo isn't necessarily Christian, but instead came about from Voodoo influences that slaves had learned back home. Hoodoo has a very tragic past and I feel the few other books I read kind of glossed over this somewhat and didn't go very in-depth. Reading this in a way changed my view on Hoodoo some and kind of made me a little sad but I'm glad I got to really learn it's true past finally and not the fluffy version. ... show more

  • Enjoyed the read, made sense, helpful
I honestly thought this was a black man sharing this information. A lot of what was explained made absolute sense and Im no practioner. There's some areas in the text that left me with some ?'s regarding steps in some of the work so, I decided to search him on Youtube and found a Divination discussion with Sen Moise being interviewed by someone. After listening carefully for the hour I discovered he had a facebook page. I dont know I guess I expected more and not what I found on his facebook page. I guess I expected more videos on his work but maybe that will come in time. I will also try some of his techniques because I agree we should cleanse and protect often. I just dont understand how could Voodoo and Hoodoo not be the same yet are cousins. ... show more
